Teething already?!

Why can't I remember anything from when Sophia was a baby? LOL. It seems like Isabelle's first few months are going by so much faster. Over the last few weeks she has been shoving her fist and fingers in her mouth and is drooling like crazy. I go through a few bibs a day trying to keep her clothes dry. Well, last night she spiked a low grade fever. She has no other symptoms of being sick and I seriously think its her teeth. I know my pediatrician would disagree as they insist that teeth do not cause fever. I have never known what to think about that since I had always heard that they do.

ANYWAY! So...when did your baby start teething? When did the first tooth pop out? I think Sophia got her first tooth at like 6 months but cannot remember when she started drooling and gumming everything in sight.

  • Elise has been drooling and shoving her fists in her mouth, too.  She also passes her tongue over her gums a lot.  I read that the teething process can start very early even if they don't sprout a tooth until about 4 months or so.  It does sound like Isabelle may be sprouting some pearlies soon!
  • Owen is a major drooler too and always has hands and fists in his mouth. In fact, he puts everything he can find in his mouth ;-) I thought that for sure he was teething but his pediatrician said that it is normal at this age. I totally don't remember Quinn drooling this much! Quinn didn't get his first tooth until he was 11 months old either.
If it makes you feel any better, I do not remember a thing from when Quinn was a baby. I always think, "Oh Quinn did xxx at this age," then I look at the baby book and realize that I was completely wrong.

  • She most definitely could be teething.  Layla didn't get her 1st tooth until almost 6 months but Logan got his 1st right at 3 months.  I didn't think it was possible but sure enough it popped right through. :)

  • Ethan's been doing the exact same thing, drooling like crazy all over the place! this has been going on for about 1.5 mths. All babies are different, some drool more, some drool less. But what Isabelle is doing is completely normal! Like Adri said, teething starts way before a tooth pops out so the drooling now may or may not be teething; you shall find out soon. ;) Evan's first toorh came out at 5 months so i've been patiently waiting to see if all of this drooling Ethan is doing results in a tooth in the same time period.

  • Lucas drooled like crazy for a long time, but didn't break in a tooth till he was like 7 months.  I don't know why docs say kids don't get a fever when they teeth, it must be some crazy coincidence that everytime a tooth came out a fever came along with it.
