So I went for my 37 week appt on monday and everything was going well. Dr. did the strep b test and listened to heartbeat. All along she has said "I just can't believe how perfectly your pregnancy is going". But then she measured belly and says oh he's measuring 33 weeks. I know this is normal and she immediately told me it could just be how hes laying in there. So next I get all strapped down to the baby doppler (felt like a meteorologist) haha! 20 minutes goes by and the nurse sends me on my way, and have to go back in am for ultrasound.
I go in the next day for ultrasound and she tells me that he is actually measuring ahead of schedule! YIKES! weighing around 6.5lbs! The OB was right in that it was just the position he was in, but geez way to make a girl worry! And all the while all the nurses and ob was so calm...i was freaking out inside! GRRR! So I guess I shouldnt be complaining because everything is actually fine, but I don't ya just hate how some doctors are so non-chalant (SP) about things?!?! So I guess baby Oliver will be making his entrance soon! Oh done venting
Re: Doctors can be so....blah!
I have had a couple of things like this happen over the past few weeks and my doctor was the same way. But I think they act so nonchalant b/c they don't want to scare us.
Think about what we would do if our doctor acted super concerned and showed signs of being very worried. The last thing they want to do is stress us out by the way they act. It's part of their job to remain calm
I'm happy everything worked out for you too
Hopefully you don't have any more scares!
I've had the opposite happen - the doc was super concerned over something that turned out to be incorrect. She even advised (and we went ahead with, because she freaked us out so much) 6K worth of testing, and it turned out to be nothing.
We didn't sleep for a good 2 days.
So, I think if your doc isn't concerned about something, you should probably take comfort in that.
Glad everything is fine! Your OB makes me laugh - why WOULDN'T everything be going perfectly for your pregnancy?? Is she expecting something to go wrong with all of her patients? It's like she's looking for something to be wrong.. Most pregnancies ARE perfectly normal! And I'm guessing yours is too, even though they say you're "measuring ahead". I wouldn't put much stock into that weight measurement either. Good luck to you!
