While my mom watched Elise yesterday, I was able to buy a few basics for work. I LOVE Marshall's and TJ Maxx! I got black pants, a black skirt, and jeans (appropriate for jeans day) all from The Limited and they were $16 each! I am only about one or two sizes away from my ideal weight so these will hold me over for now. I also got a pair of Spanx from Nordstrom, but IDK if I can tolerate wearing them all day. The new clothes make me feel a little better about going back to work. I was really concerned that most of my bottoms were way too tight and indecent for school. While pregnant, I hadn't noticed how large my booty was getting until the belly went back to normal! It's like I was carrying the baby in my butt and thighs, lol!
I also got Elise some clothes, too, in the 3-6 month range as some of her 0-3 month clothes are getting a bit snug. I got my mom some essentials for her house and ordered her crib. She's turning my old room into a nursery for Elise - her little home away from home. So, I feel a bit more prepared for next week. Next, I have to install the car seat base in DH's car since he'll be doing drop-off duty. However, I'm a bit concerned about her riding in his car since it is over 10 years old and not too reliable. We'll see... I may have to do both drop-off and pick-up duty although my mom's house is on the way to DH's job and not mine.
Also, she's so funny and set in her ways. Yesterday, she took a 5 hour nap in the middle of the day which kind of set her bedtime routine back to it's regular 8 o'clock time and then slept until about 4 a.m. DH felt so bad about that 2 a.m. feeding that he suggested doing a dreamfeed at 10 p.m. to get her to stop waking at 2 a.m. I wanted to KILL him! I told him to forget about those "dreamfeeds" and that I should have never taught him that word! I told him to just let her do her thing which has been pretty good so far and she's been STTN without any books/strategies! She'll drop that one feeding when she's ready and will probably sleep until daybreak eventually.
Other than that, I'm going to get lots of pics like you guys suggested and take them to work - my own little brag book. She sleeps a lot throughout the morning, so I'm telling myself that I won't be missing out on a lot since she'll be wide awake by the time I pick her up. I'm kind of glad I picked Monday to go back because it will probably be a slow day since everyone will be getting back from the holidays. Technically, I have until the 10th, so I may take off Thursday and Friday if it still counts as mat leave and that way I can ease back into the work schedule.
Thanks for hearing me out the other day. I'm feeling a lot less anxious about starting work on Monday and I feel better-rested since I'm trying not to worry about it.
Re: feeling a little better about going back to work
So glad your feeling better about going back to work and Elise will do great.
I used to use that rational with my 1st all the time. Well she sleeps from 9-11 and then 1-4 and I pick her up at 4:30 so technically she is only not with me for a few hours..
Oh and YAY on finding some work clothes.
New clothes always helps to ease pain! ;-)
It'll take some getting used to- but you'll see that being a working mommy isn't all that bad. It's nice to get out, get dressed and socialize with grown ups. With time you'll grow to appreciate the quiet time you get to yourself in the car. Add that to the fact that we do work in the BEST profession ever for mommies. Before you know it, you'll have a week off for Spring Break and that will give you the break you need to get to get you threw the end of the year and Summer vacation!
Keep yourself busy at work and you'll find that the time passes fast. The best feeling in the WORLD is going home to your baby at the end of a work day.
Good luck on Monday!

My pre-work shopping spree went a long way towards getting me ready to head back so I am glad you were able to find clothes that made you feel great!
Elise is going to do GREAT! You are very blessed that your mom can watch her. They are going to have so much fun together.
Also, don't worry about your DH's car. LOL. That "older than 10 years" sentence made me laugh a little. As long as a carseat fits and it has AC/Heat she will be just fine. Let him handle it. Its one less thing on you if he can handle the drop off because the sooner you get to work the sooner you can leave and see your munchkin.
