After spending Christmas weekend with my parents DH and I were finally home and unpacking. My mom had been worried about my noticeable swelling all weekend. She called after we got home Sunday evening and told me to check my blood pressure and call the doctor?s office. Honestly, I just thought, I have an appointment tomorrow I?ll just talk to them tomorrow. But I did anyway and when I called the doctor I was told to immediately go to the hospital for evaluation. I thought, okay, I'll be there for a little while and then come home late tonight. I threw a few things in a bag in case of an overnight stay, but certainly did not prepare for what came next.
Once I got to the hospital things kind of got muddled. I was so puffy and swollen I hardly recognized myself. The nurses were amazing and started working me up right away. My blood pressure was sky high and my kidneys were not working well. I received two steroid shots within twelve hours of each other. We had several specialists come in and talk with us about what was going to happen, but I don?t think it clicked in. I had a 24 hr urine protein test done and it came back at 6 grams. My doctor said that was a record for her, she didn?t think she?d had a patient with that much protein before and I was having my baby that night!
At 12:32am on Tuesday December 28, 2010 Allie Anne made her way into the world. I?ve only seen her briefly in the OR and in pictures, but to me she?s perfect and amazing. She?s doing really well, breathing room air, she?s feisty (like her mom) and is ready to eat when the order is given. I can?t wait to see her again.
When I can I?ll post pictures for you all to ?meet? her. Thank you so much for all the thoughts and prayers, that is what has gotten us though these last few days.
