Cleo's dog???

Has anyone heard any updates on how Cleo's dog is doing??? I thought about her this morning as I was taking my dog out to the bathroom.  I'm not sure what time zone she's in, so she may not even be up yet....

I scrolled down and didn't see any updates, but didn't know if one of you guys might "talk" to her personally or something...

Re: Cleo's dog???

  • I was just reading that and wondering too.   Her bubble shows she is online. Update Please!   I believe she is in Central Time Zone--

  • I just got off the phone with the vet.

The bloating is almost gone and there hasn't been any more vomiting. However, she's still unable to have a bowel movement. The vet said that we need continue to limit her access to food and water today. Instead we should feed her very small amounts of baby food and a couple tablespoons of water at a time, up to 6-8 times today.

He said that it's a good sign that the bloating is gone (seriously, yesterday she looked like she's swallowed a huge watermelon) but we have to be careful that it doesn't return (thus the food/water restrictions) and it's still concerning that she's straining to poop but unable to produce anything. So basically we just have to wait and see. I'm to call him back again tomorrow morning with another report unless she takes another turn for the worse in which case we need to get her back in immediately.

  • I hope everything turns out to be fine and she passes whatever it is that she's trying to get out!!!

I hope she passes whatever she has in there!  FWIW, AFTER our dog had the surgery (we're talking like, 2 days afterwards while the major healing/critical time was taking place), unbeknownst to us, he ate ANOTHER infant sock. So he was having a hard time again, and we had to take him back in. The dr. really pressed into his belly trying to feel if anything else was in there, and by the time we got home, he had pooped it out.  My point in telling you this is: even with new surgery, he passed a sock, and #2, I think that gentle massage on his abdomen helped.  I'm hoping that she gets it out w/out any problems.

Oh, and I found the easiest way to give my dog water during these restrictions was to use a medicine dropper into the side of their mouth.
