Alternative to gDiaper inserts?

Any suggestions for an alternative to the gDiaper insert (to use in gDiapers)?
Are they trim and absorbent?

I bought some gDiapers awhile back to use on LO  but still haven't used them because I hadn't bought the inserts yet. After reviewing the inserts online, it seems that there might be some cheaper options available. I figured I should explore those before spending the money on the $$ inserts.

Any other tips?

Re: Alternative to gDiaper inserts?

  • I personally hate the whole g diaper concept.  That said, I did it for about 4-5 months full time so I'm pretty familiar with it.  I tried the g diaper inserts and the flip inserts.  Out of the disposible options I like the g diaper insets WAY more than the Flip.  I still have a ton of them and I use them in other covers when DS has a rash.  You can buy cases on sale often, but maybe start with a pack before you invest.    My main problem with g diapers is the covers.  They aren't waterproof and leak if the diaper and snap in liner isn't on just right.

  • I love the Flip covers.

    I hate the Flip inserts.

I have no idea what to recommend as an alternative, but just thought I'd throw that out there for you.

Did you post on the Cloth Diapering board?

  • I have a friend who has used grovia inserts in the gdiapers, just not snapping them in. I don't think they're any cheaper, though.

I forgot about the Cloth Diapering board. I'll post there. Thanks!

  • I've been using the gDiaper for about a week now. I'm experimenting with the gCloth, flushable refill and pre-folds. So far at night, I like a layer of the gCloth with the flushable on top. The gCloth on it's own doesn't seem to be very absorbent and I've washed & dried them the recommended 6x.

The pre-fold is a little bulky because I basically have to fold it in half to fit into g. As long as I make sure the liner is against LO's skin and change her in 2-3 hours, it works fine. I haven't tried any other inserts.
