IVF question

So...when I was unpacking all of my IVF meds last week, I came across two boxes of Novarel (each 10,000). Why is this? Could I potentially use two triggers? I've never heard of this before...

Thoughts?

I've heard of some doing 2 trigger shots. I think it's pretty common, even though I only used one.

My dose was only 10,000 units during my IVF cycle.  However, I have seen scripts come into my pharmacy for 15,000units.  Also, many times doctors will base it on weight.

I received two when we attempted with my OE and my donor has two this time. I only used one with my cycle. my RE said they sometimes use two so have all patients get both but don't always use it. mine and my donors are both two different triggers though - one Novarel and the other ovidrel - not sure why.

I think it is weight based. My RE uses 2 Ovidrel if you are over 200lbs.

I had two in my box as well. The pharmacist said I could possibly do two. Not sure if it is based on weight b/c I'm not close to 200lb, although I'm heading in that direction!

For my first couple protocols, I did 1 hCG trigger and 1 lupron trigger at night, then another hCG trigger in the morning.

For this current protocol, I only did one hCG shot but went in for bloodwork the next morning. The nurse said she'd call and let me know if I needed to do the other trigger.

ok, this is interesting.  based on this i should have 2, but was only given 1 box of HCG.  hopefully it's not too big a deal.

Wow, this is interesting...I don't weigh over 200 (or even close) so I'm very intrigued...I will ask at my appointment this morning.

It looked like Guilliana did two trigger shots too on the show.  That was the first time I had heard of getting two trigger shots.

I have only done one.

I have two as well! My md has me doing two trigger shots!

My RE is having me do a few days of low dose HCG before trigger, but they were very specific that I should make sure the pharmacy mixed it for me. Very interesting about the two triggers, I've never heard that before!

I HAD THIS.

My RE says sometimes you need two regular dose.  HOWEVER, MY RE mixes the second dose with another fluid to lower the potency if needed.   That way you'd have one full strength and another of a lower strength standing by for whatever the circumstance.
