Trying to Get Pregnant

New to TTC with Question about Test

Hi Everyone!

I am new to the TTC board and I have a question. I just started TTC this month and my last period was 12/6 and I have been very nauseated lately and even threw up yesterday. So I took a test this after-noon and it came out positive but after like 4 or 5 minutes the 2nd line disappeared.  Would that be considered positive?
I am re-testing in the morning but i'm going insane til then!! Any opinions are greatly appreciated :-)

Re: New to TTC with Question about Test

  • Was 12/6 the last day of your period, or the 1st day of your period?  If it was the latter, I think it's a little too soon in your cycle to get a + HPT even if you are pg unless you ovulate super early in your cycle.

Or you could always try asking the TTGP Magic 8-ball?

  • After 4/5 minutes the line went away?  Hmm that's odd.  If you just started this cycle on 12/6 you'd be like 22 days into your cycle.  Seems a bit early to get a + HPT unless you O on like CD 10-12?

  • I don't know what to tell ya about the vanishing line.  Unfortunately, all you can do is wait to test again.  Sucks.  GL!

RE Disappearing Positives on Answer Early & First Response Early Result

These women have noted that shortly after applying urine to the tests, a pink result line appears in addition to a pink control line (a "positive" result.) However, anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours later, the pink result line disappears completely, appearing to be a negative test.

Both the First Response Early Result and Answer Quick & Simple Early Result leaflet state, "A positive result will last for at least 48 hours."

Some of the women informed me that they called the manufacturers' 800#s and were told that sometimes, in very early pregnancy, there is not "enough hCG to make the line stick." Other women who also called the 800#s were told by other representatives that a disappearing line should be regarded as a negative test altogether. Others were told the test was positive, even if the line disappears. So, there seems to be quite a bit of confusion involved among the company representatives.

  • Thanks for that! I am going to re-test and then more than likely call my doctor.

I did O on the 11th day of the cycle, so i'm thinking a test should be correct. Either way I'll re-test and go from there. Thanks!

This is very true. Deliciously true.

  • Was it a pink or blue dye test? Blue dye tests are notorious for having evap lines, which is why I'll only test with pink dye tests. GL testing tomorrow.
