Anyone's DC get headaches or nose bleeds?

We have an appt with the pedi tomorrow but I am starting to get a little freaked.  DS has had about 5 nose bleeds, but 3 of them were in the past 2 weeks and it is on both sides, not sure how many were on each side but the last one was on the left and today the right.  Today's was not a ton but definitely enough and it happened when he was having a major 4yo tantrum and screaming.  He has also been complaining about headaches but not often enough for me to worry but yesterday or the day before he said that he has had them for "weeks and weeks" and he had one again today.  The headaches are not at his temples but above them by about two finger widths.  Like I said, I am starting to worry, I planned on just making an appointment with my ENT to look at his nose assuming he just needs it corterized (sp) but the headaches make it different.

  • Has his blood been tested? Is there a chance he might be anemic? I have heard those are two signs. Also is it very dry in your house? Maybe put a humidifier in his room. Please keep us posted.

  • We have a humidifier on our furnace, central heating, and the windows actually have condensation in his room so I am guessing that is ok.  He has not had his blood tested in 6-12 months, he was not anemic at the time but I know that can change.  And his BP is always perfect at the doctor's but that does not mean that when he gets really pissed off, he is in a screaming stage, that his BP might not go up.  I had given him Motrin (well, the fake stuff) about 2 hours before he had the nose bleed and he still was complaining about his headache before and after the nose bleed but said he feels fine now.  I called everywhere and no one has a BP kid in child size in stock.  I will update tomorrow.

  • Yes to both.  DS has had chronic sinusitits since about Aug.  He just finished a month long course of antibiotics and Nasonex only to get sick as soon as we discontinued.  So, it's off to the ENT we go.  At least that was the pedi's suggestion after the month long course of abx.

Is it horrible that I will be thrilled if I get this DX?  And I already told DS that if the Dr says he has to take medicine to get rid of them, even if it is Nasonex (which he has been prescribed before) that he HAS to take it unlike in the past.)  I am pretty freaked right now and cannot wait until tomorrow.  If we need to see an ENT at least I have one I trust b/c he took my tonsils out at 23 but this is my baby!
