Hi,
I'm having a hard time deciding on what to put on my registry. This is my first pregnancy so I don't know which brand is better than others. I've read the Baby Bargains book but would like some real life opinions.
Please let me know which brand you liked best for the following.
Bottles/Nipples
Breast Pump
Diapers
Car Seat
Stroller
Anything else you'd like to offer would help ![]()
Thank you.
Re: Newbie with questions for Moms
Congrats!! Here are some of my faves!
Bottles: Tommee Tippee
Breast pump: medela pump in style
Diapers: Huggies little snugglers and I like Huggies pure and natural wipes
Car seat: Chicco, I also have Chicco stoller, Pack n play, and highchair.
I also recommend breathable crib bumpers, my daughter now scoots around her crib when she sleeps and always ends up with her face smashed up against the bumper. I also loved my Itzbeen timer. It really helps keep track of everything. I also love my Ergo carrier.
Bottles/nipples - put a variety on your register. You never know what bottle or nipple your baby will like best.
Pump - Medala single. However, if you plan on pumping and working I'd get a double pump. The single takes a while but at a SAHM I don't mind it.
Diapers - I'm using cloth. I love it.
car seat - Love the chicco key fit
stroller - we have a running stroller
get a boppy! I love mine. Its especially nice when keeping my baby off my c section incision
bottles - I use playtex ventair with a wide/slow flow nipple. DD rarely gets bottles, but so far, no problems.
Pump - depends how serious you are about pumping. If you plan on pumpin a lot, longterm, then its probably worth the investment to get a medela. I use a playtex embrace double electric pump. Supposidly the motors dont last as long as some of the "better pumps", but I only pump once a day (twice when I go back to work) and only plan on BFing to sbout 6 months, so the cheaper one suits my needs just fine. So far no problems with it.
Diapers - We use huggies, not for any particular reason, but they fit DD well, we've only had 2 leaks in 6 weeks, so no real problems there.
travel system - we have graco. no complaints so far, but we havnt used it a ton yet either.
Diapers and bottles you might have to try some different kinds when LO gets here, every baby is different.
Missed Miscarriage discovered at 9w6d

I'll love you forever Baby Speck
Bottles/Nipples: Born Free (but your baby will decide this for you)
Breast Pump: Medela Pump in Style Advanced
Diapers: Cloth- fuzzibunz one size (for sposies, once again different diapers work for different babies. Pampers made her bright red and irritated, huggies blew out, Luvs are great) Also, I wouldn't buy a bunch of diapers since you don't know what size or brand will work. Instead put the money on a gift card so you can buy the diapers you need after LO is here.
Car Seat: Chicco keyfit 30
Stroller: Chicco cortina (part of the travel system for the carseat)
Love, love, love the soothe and glow seahorse. My DH calls is the sleep button
We've been lucky with all our purchases so far!
I don't pump a lot (once a day, maybe) and have the Medela Harmony. LOVE it. DD happily uses the bottles that came with it, but we also have a Nuk that came free with the Nestle free sample diaper bag, and she'll use that too.
We prefer Huggies little snugglers, but for the first little bit we used Pampers Sensitive with the wetness indicator (easier to learn how often you actually have to change them!). We switched when she outgrew the NB size.
We have the Eddie Bauer Endeavour travel system and like it but some people find it large. We also have the Cosco Scenera seat for when she's a bit bigger; can't tell you much about it yet but my sister loves hers.
Other stuff:
Kiddopotamus SwaddleMe swaddle blankets. None of our receiving blankets could contain our Houdini child, so these are great!
Medela steam sterilizer bags for bottles, pacis, pump parts etc.
A bassinet with a vibrate function!!! This has been a lifesaver.
Best of luck!
Bottles/Nipples: We have the playtex ventaire, but haven't used then yet. I bought them because my friend swares by them.
Breast Pump: I have the Medela Pump In Style. I love it! I have a lot of milk and have to pump several times a days.
Diapers: So far we prefer pampers over huggies. The leg holes are a little too big for my LO, she ends up leaking out of them.
Car Seat: We got a Graco of some sort. I don't remember the style name, but it is a travel system and so far I'm happy with it.
bottles- breastflow and the playtex drop-ins
breast pump- medela in style pump
diapers- huggies
car seat- graco snugride
stroller- i have the frame that goes with the graco snugride
if you plan on breastfeeding then i would recommend a boppy pillow and nursing tanks. a swing or bouncer is wonderful to have as well.

Hello!
Bottles/nipples- we use playtex drop ins (LOVE THEM)
Breast pump- I have the playtex, it works but it's really loud, I would recommend spending the extra money and getting a medela.
Diapers- we use Pampers swaddlers. We currently have a box of huggies and we are dealing with major blowouts.
Car Seat- We have a graco snug ride and instead of a travel system we got the snugrider frame and we love that. It's only about 10 pounds, and fits nicely in my trunk.

****EVERYONE WELCOME****
Bottles - We use Dr. Brown's with Natural Flow nipples. They really seem to cut down on DS's gas.
Diapers- Pampers Swaddlers. We tried Huggies, but they didn't fit right and he would poo out of them all the time.
Car Seat - We have some kind of Graco.
Bottles - Playtex Ventaire and Avent
Diapers - Cloth
. Although we did use sposies for the 1st 2 weeks, and the newborn huggies always leaked on us.
Car Seat - I had an Eddie Bauer(sp?) that was given to me, but after 1 month decided I hated it. Went to BRU and got the Graco Snugride 35 (Laguna collection I think?) and the stroller that goes with it. LOVE it. Much easier to put in the base!
Other recs:
Aden and Anais swaddle blankets
Itzbeen timer (although I only used this for the 1st 2 weeks)
Boppy (we own 2 - DH even uses when he feeds/holds DS). We also have the Boppy newborn lounger, DS loves it!
Soothie pacifiers
Lots of gowns for LO - so much easier for middle of the night diaper changes!
"Whale of a Tub" baby bathtub
Wipes warmer - the Munchkin brand has side locks on it to keep the big lid closed when you pull wipes - much easier!
Mirror to put up in the backseat so you can see LO while driving
ETA: Ameda pump
Bottles/Nipples - Dr. Brown's Natural Flow
Breast Pump - I FF
Diapers - Seventh Generation or Huggies Pure and Natural
Car Seat - Chicco Keyfit
Stroller - Chicco Cortina (Travel system that includes car seat)
Anything else you'd like to offer would help
-
*Fisher Price Seahorse
*Sleepers with ZIPPERS not buttons or snaps (that's the last thing you feel like dealing with at 4am)
Bottles/Nipples: Dr. Brown (after trying Playtex Drop-Ins, Avent and Medela)
Breast Pump: I'm a full time pumper so Medela PISA (check with your insurance company, mine covered the pump under DME with a script from my midwife),.
Diapers: Pampers Sensitive (we also have used Huggies Pure and Natural, Huggies Little Snugglers with no problems either - I just think Pampers feel the softest.)
Car Seat: we have the Graco Snug Ride 35 in Racer and love it
Stroller: we have the Graco MetroLite in Racer and love it
Other: Swaddle Me is amazing! So is the Homedics spa machine we got from Target. We leave it on all night and it helps soothe him and is great white noise.
Thank you
Breast Pump - I have the Medela Pump In Style and love it. I exclusively pumped for 7 weeks because my DD was awful at BFing and not gaining weight (I luckily made plenty if milk and she took a bottle like a champ). I waited to buy the pump until after she was born and I knew that breast feeding was going to work for us. I am back to EBF and still pump a bag or two to freeze each day
Diapers - I liked Pampers better than Huggies. Also my parents bought a pack of diapers every time they went to the grocery store after I announced my pregnancy. They bought the generic Safeway brand (Mom to Mom) and I've like them also.
Car Seat - We have the Chicco Keyfit30 and it's great. I suggest going to BRU and trying out seats in your car to make sure they fit.
Stroller - N/A, we haven't bought one yet I wear her in the mobY when we go out.

It's a GIRL! Lydia Marie!
Bottles/Nipples - Playtex Drop-Ins with slow flow nipples
Breast Pump - Medela Pump in Style
Diapers - He tends to poop out the side of Huggies, so we're sticking with Pampers right now. We'll probably switch to Target brand (Up & Up) once he gets to Size 2.
Car seat - Chicco Keyfit 30
Stroller - Snap & Go and Baby Jogger City Mini. We couldn't be happier with both of these.
Our 2 most useful items right now - swing (Graco Lovin Hug) and SwaddleMe blankets. He can't break out of the velcro!
Bottles/Nipples: We use Dr. Brown's and really like them. DD hasn't had any problems with gas at all. I'm not sure if it's because she's just not a gassy baby, the bottles are doing what they are supposed to do, or a combination of both.
Diapers: We are still using Pampers and they've been fine. My mother has some Huggies at her house, and we haven't had any issues with those either. When we're done with the Pampers, we're moving on to a less expensive brand and seeing what happens. We're going to give Up and Up a shot from Target I think.
Car Seat: Chicco Keyfit 30
Stroller: We have the Snap and Go stroller frame and absolutely love it. It is really lightweight and easy to manage. I would definitely recommend it. When she outgrows her infant seat, we have the Baby Jogger City Mini.
Other: Fisher Price My Little Lamb Cradle Swing is a godsend in out house. DD naps in it for 2 hours each morning. I love my "me" time. She is also in love with her playmat right now and will play on it for a good hour at a time. We have the Baby Einstein ocean one. I highly suggest getting a 12 pack of the Gerber pre-fold cloth diapers to use as burp cloths.
