I've been out of the loop for a while- so forgive me for just barging in with a question.
Ever since switching to cloth, we've had issues with diaper rash. Nothing horrible, but bad enough that it bothers me. We switched detergent to RnG (soft rock), use fleece liners, and apply either Grandma El's or CJs BUTTer at every diaper change, which has kept the rash contained... but never really cleared it up completely.
We were just out of town for a week and used sposies... and the rash is completely gone. With no cream. I almost don't want to start using cloth again now that we're home because I know the rash will come back.
Our stash is mostly BG and SoftBums, with a few random fitteds for nighttime. I know some babes have a sensitivity to the microsuede in the BG... could that be my problem even though she's not really touching it anymore because of the liners? I could use just the SoftBums and fitteds for a bit...
Any other ideas? Sorry this is so long... but I love CDing and I hate that I'm having this issue.
Re: Rash issues
It could be a lot of things. Could it be a yeast issue? That would make it persist. How often are you changing her? Or it could be the microsuede.
I would suggest maybe part-time CDing until you sort it out and can go back to FT.
GL!
I change her every 2 hours at least... sometimes more frequently. My pedi has seen the rash and said it wasn't yeast... and at that point it was actually at its worst, so I really don't think that's it.
Hmm... I might stick with part time for a while and see if that works. I've never stripped either, maybe that would help??
This is a pretty specific example, but I started taking a little fenugreek just a few weeks ago. I upped the amount per day & noticed DD starting to get a red bum. The CJ's and Grandma El's didn't work completely either. I thought it was build up or something with the detergent gone wrong. The same night I read that too much fenugreek can give baby a diaper rash. I would have never thought that! I stopped it the next day and her red bum was cleared. Phew! Now I just take a little each day and she's perfectly fine.
In your case it's probably something diaper/laundry related, but don't exlude things in your diet that might have affected her. I know it's such a random idea.. just wanted to put it out there b/c it happened to me. Hope you figure it out!
Wow that's crazy. But, like you said, I doubt it's anything like that since she doesn't have the rash in disposables.
I think I'm gonna strip... then go part-time. And go from there. Sad.
