Computer virus. :(

Boo. My computer has some sort of virus or something on it.. I was just on my normal websites.. the nest, facebook and the other board I go on, which is privately hosted.. and a thing popped up that said something like a harddrive error or something it looked like a windows error.. so i clicked it, and Immediately i realized that was stupid of me.. It installed something called "Full Scan" on my computer and it keeps telling me I have hard drive errors.. and I can't get rid of it.. My computer is working OK, but once i shut it off and once it shut off on its own, and then it won't turn back on for a few minutes..

I have backed up all my pics and videos, because lets be honest, these days thats all I care about.. I am going to try to let it do a full back up of my computer while I'm at work.. but I am worried if I back up the drives with the virus on it, if its just defeating the purpose..

Hopefully i can get rid of it myself.. I am afraid to bring it to someone!

    I had one last week, very annoying but I fixed it myself.  Boot your machine in safe mode with networking (press F8 when it's booting up), and download this:  https://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

    Run a full scan, it should catch it.

    That is what I just did.. its running another spybot scan on start up so I will know when that finishes if it worked. I hope it did. It said it removed a couple things that looked like the right thing... so we will see.

    I THINK its gone.. I had to delete it from the start menu manually but its not coming up in any searches or anything.. and I don't see any sign of it..

    That was an unfortunate waste of nap time, but at least its not something worse.

    same thing happened to us last week... but it was worse... we had to back up our system and reinstall windows. DH's uncle is a computer wiz, and fixed it all for us from Thailand (where he lives)

    It's so scary once you have a computer full of LO pics. I really need to back mine up- thanks for the reminder.
