how did my son learn to be this kid?

he is suddenly the kid who tells on everyone.  I'm so tired of hearing this...'mom, stella is doing X' or 'mom, dad won't let me watch X'.  1 in every 10 things he tells me is good to know, like when Stella was climbing the pantry.  Everything else is just annoying. Is this a stage?  How do I stop this behavior?

I think it will take time and patience from you b/c it is very hard for him to know the difference between telling you when someone is doing something bad that you need to know (like a week ago when my son announced to my friends that their DD was drawing on their floor with crayon along with my DD) and that their sister took their toy, they see both those things as "bad" and yet you want to know one of those things and for them to deal with the other on their own.
