Target brand of Similac advance?

Does anyone use Targets store brand of Similac Advance?  My Dr said it's the same and fine to use but I was wondering if anyone noticed a difference?  Also what is the price difference?

Re: Target brand of Similac advance?

  • While I was at Target yesterday, I compared the Enfamil to the Target.  Enfamil was about .90/ounce and Target's brand was about .48/ounce, if I remember correctly.  I know many mommas who have used store brands with no issues.  We never did with dd, but we plan to try them with this new baby.

  • We just switched from Enfamil Newborn to the Target Brand. I compared the Enfamil to the Target Brand and the ingredients/nutrients were pretty much exact. My LO is taking the Target brand great, I don't even think she knew that we changed it.

  • I used the Target brand of formula with DD. She never had any issues with it. It's like 50% cheaper too. If you compare the 2, they have the same exact make up.

  • We use the Target brand of Similac Sensitive and it's great. I actually prefer it to Similac and it's half the price. I've also heard that the Costco brand of Similac is exactly the same as the Target brand (made from the same company, just packaged for different stores). I don't know how true this is, it's just what I heard. I'm sure that's a lot cheaper, but I haven't looked into it yet.

  • With DD, who was on the Similac Advance, we used Target generic with no problems. With DS, he is on Similac Sensitive and i tried switching him to it and it made him so constipated. I know it shouldn't, since they say it's the same thing, but that's the only change we made and the poor guy could not poop. So we've kept him on brand name for right now, though cost wise I'd love to try the switch again.
