DS trying to fit in with older cousins

It's so slow, I figured I'd share this. Something is better than nothing, right?

Sam has older cousins that vary in age from 8-12. Christmas Eve, they were all sitting around, talking about some tween movie and Sam was just sitting there listening to them. When they stop, he chimes in, with a big smile in his face, hand in pocket, trying to be cool with, "Did you guys hear about the three little pigs? Yeah and then the big bad wolf came along and tried to blow their house down?! That was SO funny!".

Of course, they all just sat there and stared at him, but I started laughing. Hilarious and bittersweet at the same time. He was trying so hard to fit in with them.

I can so relate, over Thanksgiving we were with my whole family.  My kids are 2 1/2 and 4 1/2 and all of their cousins are 7 - 19.  My older DD was really keeping up with the kids and they were being so great to include both of my kids.  It was really the 1st year that my older DD could do a lot of things that her cousins were doing.  We attended a big dinner that weekend and there was a kids table where all the cousins were sitting but my mom had my 2 kids along with one of my cousins 2 kids (all 5 and under) sitting with us.  My older DD was so upset that she was not sitting  with her cousins.  We ended up moving her over there and she was happy as could be.  I so can't wait for summer vacation (we go every year with all my sibs and families and my parents).
