The biggest waste for us was all the infant clothes she got from the baby shower, plus the tons of clothes the grandmothers bought her. I should have taken them back to Carters immediately and traded them all for 12/18 months or even 2T-3T. We have 3 rubbermaid tubs of clothes she's outgrown, a lot of which she only wore once and a few she didn't wear at all. If this baby is a girl, we are set. If it's a boy, it's going to be one heck of a yard sale!
I loved my infant carrier, loved the jumparoo, never bought a pnp because mom and mil had them and we just borrowed theirs when we went OOT.
Yes all the clothes!! I learned quickly (but not fast enough) to leave ALL tags on and keep ALL receipts no matter what. And although I have returned a ton of stuff, there is so much that he wore once or not at all! So same thing, if this one is a boy I'll be ready. Heck if it's a girl I may put her in some of them anyways!
Also the bouncer, BIG waste! At least it was a gift, but still...
And the bedding set. What was I thinking? You aren't supposed to use a bumper or blanket, the mobile didn't fit on our crib, and now that the mattress is all the way down we can't use the bedskirt. Stupid (but genius) marketing!
Bibs & Burp cloths...holy Batman we got a ton. Most embroidered with his name or monogram (I'm a tad obsessed) and we have yet to use even half of them.
Especially the teeny tiny infant bibs that we got as gifts, they fit for maybe his 1st 3 months of life when he didn't need a bib b/c he was breastfeeding (although my Mom insisted on putting him in a bib everytime she watched him, he would wear one alll day...what a weirdo).

Re: Now that our babies are bigger.. what was a waste?
3 kids later the biggest waste of money was the burp cloths. As far as "gear" everything go used by one kid or another!
The swing was the most annoying, though. They kept dying on us.

Big Beefy Travel System...We have a new stroller on order right now.
