Injectables! First monitoring apt was today

I had my first check today.  I had 5 decent sized follies but she thinks i will just end up with 2 to trigger.  My lining is 4.8 and I am only on CD6. It still seems low to me but she said it is still early.   I triggered on a 4.5 last cycle soooo  at least im better than that i guess?  I am feeling pretty crampy and I am feeling like I should not have gone sledding today. 

She wants me back on Weds and is guessing I might actually trigger then.  I am kind of surprised as I thought I would be doing these for 10 days.  I will only be on CD8 if that is the case.  Is that weird?

 Another thing i dont really "get" is how are injectables different.  I mean I got 2 follies each time with Clomid and that didnt do squat for me.  So are 2 with injects any different?  Are they better quality follies or something?

She may want to trigger you early to prevent all 5 from maturing and risking HOM

Clomid tricks your brain into continuously making FSH by shutting down your estrogen, thus making your lining wimpy and CM scanty.  In an unmedicated cycle, your rising E2 level tells your pituitary gland to shut off/slow down the FSH production so that the lead follie is the only one that develops. More FSH=more follies, but you are limited to what you PG will actually produce.

Direct FSH injections are just superloading you FSH supply, and can produce modest amounts of follies (for and IUI) or way more (for an IVF). Since you continue to produce tons of E2, you'll have nice chubby lining and lots of CM.

For an IUI your RE may not WANT to make more than two follies. It's not a matter of whether you are ABLE to produce more.

thanks for your reply!  At my baseline I asked her how many we were shooting for and she said 2-4  so I bet you are right,  I guess i was secretly rooting for more since 2 didnt seem to be doing much. 

But is triggering on CD8 kinda crazy?
