Blended Families

child support daycare cost reporting

Does anyone here have a blended family but one nanny for all the kids?
I am required as part of my child support order to report actual daycare costs on a quarterly basis, then cs is adjusted at the end of the year based on actual daycare rather than the expected daycare which is what the cs payment is calculated from.
I have a nanny who will be full time with the new baby and then also watch my older boys before/after school and on school holidays etc.
How do I fairly divide this cost to show the boys daycare portion?  Options I have thought of are:
1)  Separate the hourly rate from what the nanny is paid now for the boys and what she will be paid with the baby and report the # of hours she has the boys by that hourly rate.
2) Pay the nanny salary and designate separate portion for the boys and the infant.
3) Divide the total by 1/2 (1/2 for the boys, 1/2 for the infant.)
Other options/portion etc.?

I am leaning toward paying a straight salary and just doing separate checks for the infant care to make it the simplest.  However, there are other complications to paying salary instead of hourly.
Thoughts?  Anyone else have experience with this?

  • Well if you work at a place that pays one rate regular pay and another rate over time, it all goes on the same check, right?

Just take a fair portion and say that's how much the nanny is paid for the boys' care. Do you pay her more on the days the boys don't have school?

  • I wouldn't write two checks, but your idea of the separate rates per kid would make sense, because that would allow you to keep the cost for the older children entirely separate.  Also keep in mind she's going to have them on school holidays, etc, so it's not straightforward mornings and afternoons.

Either way - that can still be only one check, just with the earnings separated out.
