How do I know if Mari is just a super champion fast pee-er or if I somehow already have repelling microfiber? We've had three times where she's covered in pee down her leg or up her back and the inserts aren't wet, but when she's peed on the table or my hand or the bath towel, she just gushes urine, so I don't know if her speed is the real issue. FWIW, we haven't had the issue with our FooFoo hemp.
I tried squirting some water on the inserts, and it beads up, hangs out for a few seconds, and then eventually absorbs. But I don't know if that's repelling or just how microfiber works?
I tried you tube-ing "cloth diaper repel" and got a whole lot of pseudo-kink, so I'm open to better search terms.
Thoughts? Suggestions or videos? Please?
Re: Beating my head against a diapering wall
Thanks women!
It's happened with thirsties inserts and BG inserts. The thirsties are the size one diapers, BGs are the AIOs and size smalls. Princess Chunk is over 10 lbs, so I thought she was well within the weight range for those. I can't fit anything between the leg spaces and her legs when I put on the diapers, but they don't leave red marks on her legs, which made me think I had them tight enough. Is there a better way to tell if I need them tighter?

Well, if she is leaking up her back, that doesn't necessarily mean that the thigh fit is the problem. It could be the waist fit.
What is your wash routine? How long has she been in these diapers when they leak?
It does sound like a bit of repelling, but unless you are using WAY too much detergent, it seems early for that. Were these used diapers?
It sounds like repelling to me. I had it immediately when DD was around the same size--turns out just a little bit of natural laundry soap was enough to cover my whole batch of microfiber. I boiled the inserts, scrubbed the pockets with dawn and a toothbrush, and then ran a bunch of hot water washes until the whole mess rinsed clean.
Is it possible something's gotten on them, like lanolin or diaper cream?
