for the baptism. What do people wear? I don't want to spend a lot of money on an outfit for me b/c we never do anything for me to wear it again. I don't want a dress b/c if I have to feed Sophia(not sure how this is going to work b/c I don't know if I will be comfortable nursing her in front of my tween nephews and BIL)
I was thinking of doing Carmines catering. Has anyone ever used them or eaten there? DH's work had food catered from there last week. I am not going to make the food b/c i don't have time and our oven works when it wants to. Any other recs for a place to cater that delivers?
Re: Help me plan a menu and what to wear...
for Eve's baptism I wore a dress that was stretchy (like jersey knit material) and it was actually like gathered on top so I could just nurse from the top of it, but I mostly gave her bottles once everyone was around anyway..
I have had Carmines catering and it is good.. I feel like a lot of catering places are all the same.. ya know? Have you looked into wegmans? It might be cheaper.
m/c 1/2/08 and 3/12/08
Eve Amelia- Born 2/24/09. 6lb 9.9oz
Natalie Ruth - Born 6/13/11 7lb 6.6oz
For Molly's baptism I wore a fake wrap dress that had a built-in control panel. Loved it. We did bottles while I had it on.
For food we did a meat/cheese platter with mini kaiser rolls, veggie platter, and fruit platter from Price Chopper. A friend brought a dip and I made the cake.
I wore a skirt and top to dd's baptism. So just pulled it up. We went over to my parents afterwards with friends and family and I just went upstairs to a bedroom to nurse her. Even being the host though, it would be acceptable for you to step away for 15-20 minutes, and it is kinda relaxing in the middle of a party too.
I wore a black dress, but I was not nursing at that point. I think that a nice top and black pants would be fine.
We made pulled pork in a crockpot, coleslaw and had chips and cake. We kept it simple and it was really affordable.
I wore a simple dark gray dress from Kohls, (with black tights and heels)... I think I paid under $30 for it. If you aren't comfortable in a dress, then black pants and a nice sweater/cardigan would be good too. Those flowy, open style cardigans are all over the place, and really cute IMO. Something like this? Or you could do a fun blazer/jacket to dress it up a bit more?
Never had Carmines catering, but I love their food!
good luck w/ the plans.
