Pregnant after a Loss

Haven't felt a thing yet?

At 19 weeks, I haven't felt any movement yet.  It's the first time I've been this far along, so I'm not sure what to expect/look for.  I've heard it can feel like popcorn popping or something that gets mistaken for gas, but I haven't felt any of that.  I'm a slim person, if that matters at all.  Any thoughts - is this normal?  TIA

  • try laying down flat at night with your hands on your belly and concentrate. I used to do this and I'd feel LO.

  • Don't worry...I became paranoid too because I felt like a lot of the girls on here were talking about and worry about movement SUPER early like 16-18 weeks. I *think* I started feeling some things around 18 weeks, but I definitely wasn't for sure. My doctor said I probably wouldn't feel any flutters until like 20 weeks, so that made me feel a little better.

I have really begun to notice the movement (like feeling actual little kicks) this week. I'm 21 weeks. And honestly I've heard some girls say "oh that first time you feel it you will just know'. That was so not true for me...

Hang in there! Baby is still REALLY little right now. I'm sure you will start feeling something soon!

  • Do you know where your placenta is? If it's anterior it makes it much harder to feel anything.

My doctor didn't even start asking me if I felt movement until around 24 weeks.

  • I don't think that is uncommon at all.
  • I didn't feel anything until about 21 weeks due to anterior placenta. Believe me, I was using my doppler almost every day until I started feeling consistent movement at 24ish weeks.

This! I'm 18 weeks and still at that "I think I feel it" time. After you eat try sitting or laying still for a while. I sware I only feel it if I am doing something quietly. Suck as trying to go to sleep or sitting down after dinner.

  • With my DD it was hard for me to feel the movement at first.. I remember being more like 20-22 weeks... and I was in a movie theater watching a movie... I felt it and knew exactly what it was at first..  also.. my placenta was in front so they said it padded her kicks. I got one of those "stork radios"... doppler things which I would check her heartbeat every night.  Once you get further along, the dr might say try orange juice or something sweet or really cold to get the baby moving.  It didn't work for me b/c the placenta position.  It might work for you.

  • I didn't feel LO until 22 weeks or so.  I didn't know it at the time but I have an anterior placenta.

  • I haven't felt anything and my midwife said I might not until around 22 weeks because of an anterior placenta.

Ditto this, for exactly those reasons.

  • I felt movement for the first time at 19 wks. It didn't feel like butterfly fluttering, it felt like vibrating. I thought it might be gas at first but when I kept noticing it I realized it was baby movement. It didn't get consistent, more noticeable and around the same time every day until 20 wks.
