Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

It's over (or at least close)

Well, the second round of Cytotec seemed to do the trick.  I inserted them around 9:30pm and by 11:30 the cramps were unbearable (even with pain meds).  I spent half the night on the toilet with lots of bleeding (literally, it was like stuff was just falling out) but nothing that looked like a sac unfortunately.  I don't seem to bleed onto the pads much.  It seems like it only happens when I sit down on the toilet.  Anyone else experience this?  I wonder how long this will take and if this will work entirely.  I was up for at least 3 hours just sitting on the toilet.  I got to bed finally around 5am and slept til 9am. DH is leaving to go to work soon :(

The cramps have subsided mostly. My doctor of course isn't in today (it seems like I can never talk to her) so I really don't know what to expect and how to know everything is "out."

  • (((hugs))) that all sounds familiar.. for me the worst lasted three days. It seemed to hit me in the evening and be like you described for about 3-4 hours each night. I hope yours goes a lot shorter. I think I passed most of the big stuff my 2nd day. Just remember.. the pain will get better and it will pass...

Hopefully your doctor will give you a sonogram or test your HCG to <5 to make sure everything is gone.

My thoughts are with you :(

  • I'm so sorry. M/c is hard enough without having to go through all you've been through the past few weeks.

This sounds like what I went through - the almost unbearable cramping, and feeling like I had to sit on the toilet all the time.

My guess would be they will do another u/s when you're all done to make sure everything passed, but I'm not really sure since my course was different.

  • oh good, it sounds like you are well on your way.  The only time I really filled pads was right after I passed the sac but I think my sac measured larger than yours so it's possible you did pass the sac and it got lost in the clots.    You'll probably be "clotting" (it's what I called it when I went to the bathroom to pass stuff that lovely day) today and hopefully be done with it.  Hopefully your OB will do an u/s on you in the next couple days to see if you've passed everything.

  • I just don't know whether to take more tonight.  My bleeding has tapered off greatly so far.  I'm not dropping massive amounts of blood, clots etc. into the toilet.  There is a lot of blood when I wipe but that's it for now.  I'd say there was heavy bleeding for the better part of 10-12 hours, but now it is light bleeding. I'm afraid it's not done. So scared I have to continue to go through this.  The cramps are still present but they're generally mild.  I definitely didn't see a sac but I saw lots of large blood clots.

  • do you think they could get you in for an u/s today?  It's really the best way to see if you are done yet.  If you've been passing some pretty big clots all day then it would be pretty similar to my miscarriage experience.  The problem is...I didn't get it all out.  I'm starting to feel like the last person you want to hear from but I wish I would have gotten the follow up u/s sooner so I could have taken drugs or something to move things along.  I think I waited about 3 weeks after the miscarriage day before getting an u/s to find out there was more there.  I think the bottom line is every body is different.  Just because I didn't get it all out that day doesn't mean that you won't.  If you really think you haven't passed the sac yet and your cramps are tapering off you should probably take the meds again.  The cramping kind of coinsides with the sac since the cervix needs to dialate to pass that.  It's possible that your cervix hasn't dialated enough yet so you are only passing clots and some blood and it's all backing up behind the sac.  Just some thoughts, I hope things pick up for you this afternoon.

  • Yeah I am bleeding more and passing huge clots.  It picked up again. I don't know whether to take more meds and I am going to call my doctor's office by 4pm if I don't hear from my doctor.  This is getting ridiculous.

  • I am really sorry!  It sounds like you are most likely passing everything.  I am not the norm and and passed the sac first, then the clotting started and continued for about 15 hours.  Are the pain meds working better for you?  I think i recall you stating you are measuring a little more the 5 weeks?  I was measuring 6w2d or 6w1d and it was noticiable but really small compared to the clotting that came later.

  • Was yours basically over in 12 hours or less?  I am still bleeding, mildly, but the major stuff happened inside of about 9-12 hours and then almost totally tapered off.  I have little cramps here and there but it doesn't touch what I initially experienced.  I am praying this is over. I'd give just about anything for this to be declared over. But, I have to wait for yet another ultrasound tomorrow morning. This never ends.
