Pregnant after a Loss

Question about movement and kick counts

Okay, so I haven't really done kick counts up to this point... The baby has always been very active, and I haven't had the need to.  Well, the last couple of days, the movement has been less... Normally when I lay down and relax, the baby will start kicking and you will be able to see and feel movement... The last couple of days, not so much.  There has still been some, but it seems like less.  Enough that I made a comment to DH about it yesterday.

So, this morning, I sleep in until about 9, get up and around, and then at about noon, I sit down to chill out.  I realized that I haven't really felt any movement this morning, so I started counting kicks.  I am 40 minutes into the hour, and I have had one solid kick, and then a couple of times I could feel something that felt like the baby might be rolling, but not kicks... Nothing like normal.  I ate some sugar before I sat down, and about 25 minutes in I went and got a glass of juice.  That didn't seem to change anything...

What would you do?  I am at my in-laws in another state, my OB's office is closed until 1 pm (which is only 15 minutes away, but when you are semi freaking out, a long time), and my DH is golfing and did NOT take his phone... So, if I want to go somewhere, basically I am going to be freaking out my MIL and SIL.  I don't know if I should count those little movements that feel like rolling or not... Normally the baby is *very* active.

Sorry so long, and thanks for the input.

Re: Question about movement and kick counts

  • Typically you shouldn't expect consistent movement until you're 28 weeks along. Since you're not quite there, try not to worry too much. Also, "movement" counts..it doesn't have to be a strong definitive kick to be a part of the "kick count."
  • Loading the player...
  • the rolling could be the baby rolling and facing your back. So you feel the rolls, but not the kicks

This. I'm not supposed to start doing kick counts till 28 weeks. I wouldn't worry...

  • Cameron has her quiet days, where even juice won't get her moving. My OB told me not to worry overly much until 28 weeks, like PP said, but that's usually the point I have to bust out the doppler for a little peace of mind.
  • I don't know if you saw my previous post earlier today or the responses, but you are not alone (and only 4 days ahead of me). Maybe it is just a normal thing at this point in pregnancy because my LO has been extremely active until yesterday and today. I've felt her a few times this morning, but nothing like what she's been doing the last several weeks. Her movements now are few and far between and so subtle I almost don't notice them. I wish she'd go back to having the party in my uterus she was having because I liked the reassurance.
