SO we have a treadmill, and it's been int he garage since we moved (cuz we are renting and in transition)
I'd like it out at the new house - butwe just don't know where to put it to where it wouldn't be in the way.
We have : A living room, a front room (it's the grown up room) and a master bedroom.
Honestly I'd like it in the master - but I don't think Rod would - plus he makes the whole house LIGHT'S OUT at 8 pm. And I don't think he'd like me running beside the bed :P
I'm not real keen on running when everyone goes to bed either (i like to go to bed too)
I told him I'd like it outside on the patio from April to Oct (warm around 70 degrees and no rain) But he says it's hard to lug around
So he thinks it should go in the garage. Which I guess is okay - except it's cold in there and no TV. And it's like I'm locked away. Then he says it's too hard to get it from garage to patio in Spring - so now I really don't want it there because ultimately - I'd like it outside when the weather warms up.
I dunno. Where would you put it?
Re: If you were going to put a treadmill in your house - WHERE?
I am looking into getting one too and I am going to put it in the living room.
It will be obnoxious and in the way but I also will be able to see it from most places in the house so I am hoping that instead of sitting on my arse and watching TV I might just get up and use the darn thing instead!
Pre-kids ours was in the living room. It was right in front of the TV so there were no excuses for not getting on it while watching TV after dinner. If you can do it I'd put it in your front room or living room (whichever the kids won't be in).
Now that we have kids our treadmill is shoved in the cold garage and NEVER gets used. Putting workout equipment in the garage is like a death wish for workouts in our house. I wish we had another room to put it in but it's just not happening in this house.
Definately get it IN the house if at all possible!
I have this debate too...when and if we move, where will it go? It's in the bedroom now. My excuse for not using it much (haha) is there is no TV in the bedroom. I really need more of a distraction than reading, just some good brainless DVR show.
The house I like (and while on the search for others) mostly have a living room and den. If we get a 4th bedroom - then it would go there and be a spare bedroom/office/treadmill - or if we get a Recroom - treadmill/media/playroom combo. If just 3 bedrooms, then it has to go in the Master....
OR I really have no problem having it in the garage as long as we can put a (crappy even) TV out there. Around here it would only be unusable for maybe 2 weeks in summer and maybe a few in winter...I mean, you should be working up a little sweat, right?

Mine is in the garage. TJ built me a little shelf and I have a small flat screen out there with a built in DVD player so I can watch something while running. TJ also added extra lighting, which was only partially for me and partially to help when he's working on one of his toys.
We also have a 2 car garage, my car is on one side and two of his toys park on the side with my treadmill.
We also have a bowflex and that is in the house in the spare bedroom. It hardly ever gets used since we don't have a TV in the room. I have to listen or watch something while working out or I get too bored.
When I'm motivated it doesn't matter where it is I'll work out anywhere. I was getting up early and running 5-6 miles a couple of times a week in the garage before we got married. I need to get that motivation back now!

It's a GIRL! Lydia Marie!
I was at the gym 6 days a week (sometimes for 3 hours at a time) before kids and marriage - now I'm just begging for 30 minutes on a treadmill. I seem to never get my butt out the door to the gym, it takes up too much time.

Me too! I dont want to run w/ a jogging stroller either, I want ME TIME to run, not worry if my kiddo is warm enough the whole time... But I also dont want to go at 9 at night after dinner/bath/bed. Grrr
maybe if you did the living room, Rod wuld be more adept to move it come spring! Lol it'd only be 2x a year you move it, not like you want it moved every week right? I'd point that out. It'd just be a chore, kinda like putting Christmas lights on the house. Lol
we have one that I do not use, but DH does. It's in our office. It faces a wall and folds up so it's not too imposing. But yeah, super boring since we took the TV out of that room. We also debated the garage, but the office is large and downstairs and has double French doors so when closed yu don't really notice it, so it was the best choice for us.
If we had a treadmill, it'd have to go near a TV for me and somewhere conveinient. The best place in my house would be in MIL suite downstairs but Im so lazy I still think I'd use it more in my family room! Out of sight, out of mind. And a garage, I agree, is a death sentence for workouts. Its dungeony in there
