NBR: Where can I take old books?

other than goodwill - I was thinking of calling the used bookstore around the corner. I know libraries like to build collections themselves or something (or so I read last night) so they don't like to take donations.

Any ideas?

  • I'm curious about this too.  The boys got so many for Christmas.  I need to get rid of the old ones that we don't read.

  • Yeah I think our library only takes donations to then sell to raise money..

We have a used bookstore here, I think you can trade your old books in and get credit to use in the store, but all the books in the store seem to suck and the people that work there are not friendly so I have no desire to take books to them.

  • All of the libraries I've always been to LOVE donations as long as the books are in good condition!

  • My mom works at the library, and they will sell the books to raise funds.
  • Oh - hmm...maybe I'll call the little library close by...never thought of them selling them to raise funds.
  • Bookmooch.com. Its not a fast way to get rid of them, but you can get some books in return!
