s/o of Christmas photos

A few weeks ago, Rory and I were looking through old photos on the computer, and this thought crossed my mind...

It is highly likely that my kids won't remember any of the things we've done in their lives up to this point.  I know that I personally have a lot of memories from when I was 5, but before that, I don't remember a lot.  I do have some stories from the earlier ages, but I don't think I actually remember them.  I have those memories because I've seen photos or I've been told by my parents.  It's kind of a strange thought, and it makes me that much more appreciative of all the photos I have of my kids and the ones that I have from when I was a child.

  • my boys love all of the grandparents' photo albums for the exact reason (they love hearing about our pictures).   mmm...you got me thinking...i can't exactly hand them a disc now can I?

  • That's EXactly why I take a million photos of the kids.  I used to (and still do) LOVE looking through all of my Mom and grandparents' photos from my childhood.  Some people (MH being one) don't understand why I snap SO many photos at every occasion or for no particular special reason at all.  The kids will have the memories....that's why!

  • Totally agree with you!
  • I completely agree! I have only a handful of photos from my childhood and nobody living to tell me the stories of when I was small. My hope is that if something were to happen to DH and I tomorrow, DD could still look at the hundreds of pictures I take every month and piece together that she was loved and had a good life. Because I'm morbid, I think of this kind of thing more often than I probably should.
