Post-Wash Sperm Count Poll

All you IUI girls-I'm just wondering, what are your post-wash sperm numbers?  I know everyone is different, but we had an SA done almost a year ago and I've been told by different Dr.'s the that results were "normal" and nothing to worry about.  But the morph was "slightly low".  We've done two IUI's, the first one with 2mil post wash, and the second with only 1.5mil post wash.  That's low, and we are doing another SA tomorrow, but I was just wondering what some of your numbers look like?

Re: Post-Wash Sperm Count Poll

  • We had our 1st IUI on Sunday morning.

DH's post-wash count was 76 million, 94% motility. His count before the wash was 136 million.

  • We've only done one IUI so far, pre-wash was 15 mill, post-wash was 9 mill. They don't tell us morph for IUI.

  • We had 6 mil the first day and 3 mil the second day.  DH's SA was totally fine a year ago.

My clinic won't do the IUI if the post wash count is under 5 mil.

  • Wow, Melymel80...that's great news and that gives me hope!  I want to be just like you! lol! =)
  • IUI #1 = 96 million (BFN)

    IUI #2 = 74 million (BFN)

    IUI #3 = 84 million (BFN)

Just goes to show that high numbers don't necessarily equal a BFP!

Hopefully the SA goes well tomorrow!

  • We've done 8 and post wash has ranged from 8 million to 86 million.  Motility from 46% to 86%.  Ironically, our BFP was on the 8 million with only 46% total motile cycle.  Go figure!

  • Tab,

I was so upset after the last IUI. I was so pessimistic aout the count. RE nurse said it was irrelevant. I really just thought she was just saying that. But here I am. Just goes to show it really ONLY takes one...GL to you.

  • For my IUI, pre-wash was 394 million, and post-wash was 136 million.  Stellar numbers, but doesn't seem to help.
  • I had one IUI and post wash was 8 million. I got my BFP so that shows that low numbers arent always bad! GL to you.

  • 1st IUI 20 million pre wash-9 million post wash
2nd IUI 48 million pre wash-20 million post wash
I made DH add a vitamin which is why I think our # increased. GL

  • I got my bfp on b2b 4.5 mil and I'm having twins.  I was down in the dumps thinking it was too low too.  guess not!  Good luck!
  • Our count range quite a bit - in the past year DH count have gone from 20 mil to 3 mil to 39 mil back down to 5 mil - I just do not get it - his motility is always around 35 to 45% and morph is always 6 %.

  • Yeah, I'm not sure that big numbers really do increase your odds. We did 3 IUIs and DH's counts were really high (263 post-wash for our third IUI with 80% motility) and I got nothing but BFNs! Good luck!
