Countour Tandem II Stroller moms

So after I told my husband the city select is that much money for only 1 seat AND you gotta buy all the other accessories he pretty much laughed at how ridiculous that was and he showed me the kolcraft contour tadem and I liked it. We checked it out at the store and it rides pretty smooth like a snap and go AND its not heavy which I liked. Not to mention it takes our safety 1st car seat and it comes with 2 car seats AND you can position the seats whichever way you choose, like the city select. :)  We didn't buy it yet because they only had 1 color so we plan to get it sometime this week online,  probably. But, what do you guys like about it? How is it overall? What's the downside of it if any? Thanks!

Re: Countour Tandem II Stroller moms

  • Have it and LOVE it.  You will have to buy a 2nd car seat adapter, you can get it from diapers.com and it'll arrive the next day.  I dislike how hard the basket is to access and that there's no snack trays for the kids.  I LOVE how smooth it rides, how nice it looks, the seating options, the fact that it can be used as a regular stroller or as a SNG (either single or DSNG).  JR even turned it into a triple stroller, for some reason he decided to climb in the basket one day (he's 40 pounds FYI) and he likes to ride in there at times.  Overall it's the best stroller in our budget.  I'd love the Valco Trimode, but for $800 that's not going to happen.  GL.
  • We just got the Tandem II Options and it seems pretty cool. No babies yet, but we like it! If you are looking at the Tandem II, I am pretty sure it only comes in Tangerine.

  • I've had it for 3.5 years now, since I used it with my first two when my second DD was born. I love the versatility, especially with a toddler. I used it as a DSNG at first, but I always had one of the actual seats stashed in my car. I always gave my toddler the option of riding in the stroller, and if she wanted to, I would wear a baby. I really feel the only difference between the Kolcraft and the Select is the length, which is not a big deal to me. And I don't need bassinets, etc. Another drawback is the lack of snack trays for the kids. Other than that, I love it and still use it almost every day. Hope that helps!

  • i had it before i got my select and loved it - for the money it's a GREAT stroller.

the only downs are that it's very long- but most tandems are... but otherwise it has a great ride for a stroller of that price- and does so much.  I think it's the best option out there if you don't want to spend the money on the select.

  • This is the stroller I am thinking about getting. I wish I had ordered it yesterday, because Amazon had it on sale for $165. Now it's back up to $195 and I am kicking myself.

  • Thanks ladies, yeah we'll be getting this stroller. I like the tandem II for the extra 2 cupholders but I really don't like the gray and tangerine combo. If it was black and orange that'd be nice but I don't like the gray. So I'll be getting the Tandem Options in Ruby which is really nice! :) Thanks for the input guys, you're all a great help. :)

  • I'm glad I saw this thread! The duo stroller we've been looking at is about $70 more expensive and isn't as nice looking. I will definitely show this one to DH!

And just so I understand correctly, to get the second car seat in for the snap and go, you must buy an extra attachment, right?

Yes, you have to buy an extra one, but you can get it for $20 on amazon. I have found that this stroller gets the absolute BEST reviews if you want to pay under $300.

  • FYI a few weeks ago Kolcraft announced they will be coming out with the Countour Tandem that is 10 pounds lighter in 2011.
