Washing machines

I've been CDing my daughter for about 6 months and my washing machine just pooped out (doesn't spin anymore). We're going to buy a new one & noticed that they don't make them like they used to anymore (most have water level sensors now). Anyone have any suggestions about what we should be looking for, or a new washer that they use?

TIA!

Re: Washing machines

  • I think you can make CD washing work regardless of washer (except, I have given up on front load he washers - my mom has one and I have never been able to get them clean).

Top loaders in general, even HE, still use more water than front load (at least that's what I've read). Although many/most have energy efficient features for water level - some/many have an option for over-riding that. My previous washer was Fisher & Paykel - and had an option for 'traditional wash'. My current washer (or at least until I buy a new one) does NOT have that feature but I've done well with reducing the 'spin' speed as well as using a 'soak' feature.

If I was buying a new washer today, it would definitely be a fisher & paykel.

  • We have an LG with "add water" setting.

LG's are the only ones (to my knowledge) that have this setting.

I've also heard of moms just adding some water to the wash.

My lo isn't here yet though, so I reeeally hope our washing machine works.

  • I add a towel-more weight equals more water, heavy duty and no spin...that's my trick to getting more water!

  • We have a maytag something or other HE toploader.  Works just fine.  I would stay away from front loaders, just on general principle.  They look neat, but not really practical.
