Re: azoospermia?

  • I'm not very familiar with azoo but why can't you do IUI w/donor sperm?  I would be sure he has sperm before you go through all the things that go along with IVF.  Sorry I can't be of more help.

  • Are they going to do a testicular biopsy before you start the IVF process? Doing that would tell you whether there was sperm production.

  • First of all, I'm so sorry that you're dealing with this, MFI is so hard.
It depends on the situation.  Have you seen a Male Factor Infertility Dr., it makes all the difference? What other tests have you had done?  I've known a few cases where sperm was found with the mTESE.  We're planning to do it in March, IVF& ICSI

I'm going to rec. you visit

I usually visit the NOA Questions thread but you can visit whatever thread applies to you or start your own.
It's not as hopping as this site but more specialized.

  • My husband's dx is also azoo.  We went to a urologist who told us not to even go through a tese (testicular biopsy) b/c since he was missing part of a chromosome he wouldn'thave any so it wasn't worth him going through it.
With that said a urologist will be able to tell you what is causing the azoo to see if a biopsy will work for your guys.
If not consider donor sperm.  I was so against it but after thinking about it....we were so excited about chosing a donor that looks like my husband with the same interests.  Of course it's not the ideal situation but it's better than the alternative.
If you have any questions please page me, I'm ususally on here at night.  :)  Good luck!
