school me. Netbooks. Likes & dislikes ??

Waste of $ or a good thing?  What do you love & hate about it?  We got enough $ that we want to either do a laptop or netbook type thing, get rid of the office area & make it a playroom/toy storage, and we can then also get rid of the computer in our bedroom finally.

Not for an only computer as as someone said.  I put Lightroom on it to edit photos and it is a joke, it is so slow b/c it cannot handle it.  There is definitely a reason it is called a Netbook, it is only really for surfing the net.

i got the new Google Chrome netbook in the mail a few weeks ago (for freeee!) and love it.  I don't do anythign but go online so it's great.  We do have a regular computer for uploading/editing pics, music, whatever.

DH got his this week - it's awesome! (ok, it's pretty cool but free makes it awesome!)We have an EEE netbook too and it's smaller and lighter than the chrome. I love using it for following recipes because it takes up less space.

But I have a full size laptop for using Word, Excel, and doing any photo stuff. A netbook is really only good for online stuff.

I got a Compaq laptop from Best Buy this summer for $299. Check around, there can be good deals on laptops.

We have a decent laptop and 2 desktops right now.  We'd like to pare down to either 2 laptops, or 1laptop and 1netbook.  Just trying to decide which way we're going to go, we can get a laptop better than ours for the same price as a netbook.  Just wondering if there was anything glaringly annoying about the nb that I was missing.

It's in beta testing and people could appy to be beta testers. Then they just sent them out. I'm pretty sure that they had a bazillion requests, DH has just been freakishly lucky lately.
