Anyone have a roomba?

I might try to find a good price on one at the after Christmas sales.  How well do they work?  We have a large main floor with an open floor plan and a mix of tile, hardwood and carpet.  We also have two large dogs who shed a lot--the hair accumulates daily along rhe baseboards.  Would a Roomba work for our needs or do you, as a current user, see potential disappointment for me?

ETA:  also, how noisy are they?  Could I program it to work while we are sleeping or would it disturb us?

I don't have one, but my aunt and MIL both do and they rave about it.  My MIL is desperate to give me one as a housewarming present.  I'm not sure about running it at night.  My MIL always runs hers when she leaves the house.  Her bedroom is on the ground floor where she runs the roomba, so I'm assuming it must be too noisy to run at night.
