I thought this would make you laugh.
DH went back to work a few weeks ago, and since then, I've been doing all the feedings and baby care - day and night. I'm exhausted from all the broken sleep and all I can manage to do as far as housework is dishes and laundry.
Tuesday night, I was up with the boys from 2:30-4:15, then up again at 6:30, then 8:30. DH slept through all this, and woke up at 8:30 to help with that feed. They went down after that, and as DH swept the kitchen, he said to me "I just don't understand why you can't do more housework at a time like this, for example, when they're sleeping."
Wait....what? Seriously? I'm glad nothing heavy was within arms reach, or it would have gone flying.
As the day goes on, DH's parents come over, proceed to wake up one of the twins (I shot darts with my eyes at them and DH for letting them wake a sleeping baby), and we go about our day.
By the end of the day, DH said "Wow, I can see why you don't do more housework. I'm drained!"
.....and that was with me helping him.
Re: Funny story about a conversation with DH
I love when they finally get it! My DH said something similar a couple weeks ago. He got up with me at 5am to do the early feeding and afterward he decided he would stay up too. So by 11am he said he was exhausted and said something like, "I had no idea you did this much in the morning!" HA - yeah, uh, how else do you think things get done?!
PS - I have learned never to wake a sleeping baby too - I would have been super cranky too!

I remember one weekend when my husband said, "weekends are so tiring, spending all this time with the babies!" And I said, "Yeah, honey, I do this 7 days a week!"
It really does get easier, but I remember the exhaustion and the anxiety around just making it through another day.
