Got a BFP but need help translating blood work...

Hello ladies! I am expecting my first (two previous miscarriages).  I'm excited but very very hesitant to announce anything quite yet.  I had bloodwork drawn this morning and recently got a call from the doc... so I need some help comprehending:

For a little background, my first miscarriage was at 10 wks and my second was a CP at practically 4 wks.  The nurse today said my levels were 51.8 and a progesterone of 15.9.  They asked me to take progesterone supplements. I had this exact issue with the second and started to spot a few days later which resulted in a miscarriage.  Needless to say I'm freaking out... Are those levels bad? What does that mean? Any help will be much appreciated!

With the HCG, it's hard to tell without knowing how many DPO you are. The main thing that matters there is the doubling time anyway, so you need a second number to get a real sense of things.

The progesterone # isn't bad - my doc looks for a number over 10, though some docs want over 15. Getting on the supplements can't hurt.

Like PP said, the HCG key is that it doubles.

The progesterone - my doc wanted over 10.  He put me on progesterone, b/c I wanted peace of mind(my progesterone was 15).  He also told me it isn't proven that it works, but they do prescribe it.

My office wants to see progesterone levels over 20. Yesterday, mine were 28.1, so my mw said that I don't need progesterone suppositories so far. As lovethebosox said, the individual beta number doesn't mean much. It's the consecutive numbers that matter, and that they're doubling. Good luck!

My first progesterone draw was also a 15. My doctor (who seems out of the norm on this subject) wants P levels over 20, so I was started on injections right away. Everything worked out though *points to siggy*

As far as prog - anything over 10 is good. My RE put me on prog supplements (only at my insistence to decrease my stress level) when my prog was 10.1. He said "you don't really need it but I'll do it because it can't hurt you." Also my HCG was CRAZY high (over 430,000 at one point) and I'm just having one. Some people just have really high HCG - I had horrible morning sickness from 7-12 weeks - lost 6 lbs. Hope all goes well with your pregnancy! H&H 9 mo to you.

Wow ladies! Thanks for taking the time out of this holiday season to give me a little peace of mind!  This makes me sooo much more optomistic. 

 

I'm approximately 12-14 days past ovulation... does that change anything?  They did not seem that concerned and said there was no need for another blood draw.

HCG doesn't mean anything...what wil matter is the doubling time.

The progesterone looks fine. My RE looks for anything 12-15+. I had 15.4 with my first PG, and the PG itself was healthy....no spotting or anything.

I had progesterone of 17.1 with this current PG.
