Hi Girls,
First off Happy Holidays and congrats on your pregnancies.
I am in my last injections cycle, maybe triggering around 12/27-12/28.
My question is how many of you maybe has a late loss, and if you got pregnant again did you need a cerclage (sp)
My loss was unexplained, either weak cervix or infection they could not answer me. So I was wondering what the chances were that I would maybe not need one, or if I did what the proceedure was.
I'm thinking because I started a new job in Nov. I'd like to not tell my boss until after 1st tri is over, but if I need surgury for this, I'd have to tell them sooner. But I am really hoping not.
I know cart before horse. But I'm making sure I cover all the bases.
Thanks!
Re: Peeking in with Question (Late loss / Cerclage)
Hey you!! I'm just lurking around this board, but since we had such similar stories, I wanted to tell you what my MFM said. They said it was completely up to me. We can either do it at 14+ weeks, or just monitor it once a week and wait to see if it starts to shorten. I think the main reason they are giving me the option is because it is one baby this time... I think with twins i would have to do the cerclage. I've decided to do the cerclage at 14 weeks, simply because I promised myself I would take this pregnancy very seriously and would take no chances whatsoever. If I didn't get the cerclage and something happened, I would be so angry at myself for allowing the same thing to happen.
My MFM told me they have had a lot of success with getting the cerclage in early for second time pregnancies that failed the first time. I really hope this cycle is it for you! You deserve it!

Hey Amye!!! I'm sure you've heard my story a jillion times, but there are basically 2 types of cerclages. Transvaginal (more common) and the transabdominal. Most OB's will rec a cerclage in your case, and I wouldn't feel comfortable being pg without one.
Most TVC's are done right at the end of 1st tri and removed between 35-38 weeks and a vaginal birth is possible. Gravity affects the TVC so usually there's lots of bed rest. Lots.
The TAC can be done before pg or in pregnancy between 10-12 weeks, after viability is confirmed. SweetieD21, lrachelle80 and I all have the TAC. It's permanent, not removed, and baby is taken by c-section. Gravity doesn't affect the TAC b/c it's SO high up, I'm still not on bed rest.
One of the 2 rockstar surgeons who perform the TAC is Dr. Davis in NJ. He's closer to you than Dr. Haney in Chicago. SweetieD used Dr. Davis. I know my insurance covered 100%, as did lrachelle's, and I think Sweetie's too. I have Aetna.
Lots of info in my TAC blog, of course.
