This morning L stands up and tells me she's still pooping. I jump up and notice she hasn't actually started yet. I ask her if we should go sit on the potty. She understands about going on the potty - we just can't get her to actually go there. So I go and pick her up and encourage her to go on the potty she freaks out on me - would have melted down if I continued to the bathroom. I put her back down and she goes in her diaper. As soon as she's done she comes over to me all happy and says she wants to go poopy in the potty.
Do I just wait a little longer until she's ready or just keep pressing the issue and hopefully one of these days she won't freak out on me and she'll let me put her up there before she goes?
Any tips or tricks on this crazy stage would be appreciated.
Re: Potty Training question
Nadia's a bit younger then Lynda, but she has done this exact thing at least twice. She will tell me she has to go/is going and then scream bloody murder if I mention the toilet. I just take it one day at a time. If she fights it- I let it go. If she's willing- I put her on. If she goes in her diaper without even mentioning it- then that's where it goes. I am pretty excited about this next milestone, but really trying not to stress over it until I'm sure she's ready. I'm sure Lynda will be there soon!

Alexis did the same thing. She kept saying No No No when I asked about the potty but she knew when she had to go and after she went. I knew she was ready and I decided to go for it now during the holiday break. i didn't do anything fancy - just took away the diaper and told her that now she had to go in the potty. Day one was not fun, but by the second day she was going pee pee in the potty, with only 2 accidents. No poop yet, she went after I put on her diaper at night, but I'm not going to stress it, I'm sure that will happen in time too! Lynda sounds like she's getting there and may be ready, I'm sure it's scary for them to stop going in their diapers after all that time!
Good luck!
