would this work in a sling?

dd STILL hates having her legs apart to sit in the ergo - even in the hip position.  i normally carry her  around facing forward on my hip/side if that makes sense (so her legs are closed).  my question is if i could have her in that position in like a ring sling?

what are my options for carriers that have legs closed carry options?  anything?  it drives me nuts she won't tolerate the ergo!  i'm trying to bake a billion cookies and she won't let me put her down!!

  • i'd get a woven. you should be able to make something work in that.

though have you tried her in a back carry in the ergo? not closed leg but it's worth a shot if you're doing cookies.

  • Ds only started to like having both his legs out in the Ergo recently. Can you do one leg in froggy style under her bum and the other out? That's still how I usually carry Ds.
  • This might not be Ergo-approved but when I got my Ergo the store told me that DD was too small to put in the carrier on my front with her legs apart.  They told me to put the carrier on the front way but sit her in sideways with both of her legs together sticking out one side (if that makes sense).  She still rides that way sometimes but only will sleep in the Ergo if I turn her to face me with her legs apart.

  • I carry E like that in the Ergo all the time. I just sit her in it sideways against my chest.
  • so how does the sideways ergo work when you're putting it on?  do you just hold them against your chest sideways and then pull the front up and slip your arms in like normal?

  • Here's what I do.  I snap the waist strap and pull the right shoulder strap up.  I put Lily in with her back to the right strap.  Pull the left side up and her feet go out the left side.  Then snap the top strap.  She loves this way for shopping and such.

    Good luck!

  • That is basically what I do as well. Now that she is bigger I can't always get her in once I have one shoulder on so I will hold her under her bum against my chest and then use one hand to pull a strap up, then transfer that arm under her and use the other arm to pull the other strap up and then I just snap the back shut and we're good. She loves it. She can see out better that way.
