Does this cold weather have you down, too?

We're going crazy. Even in the heat of the summer, we can at least get outside for half an hour in the evenings, and it's no big deal to go to the park or pool. We haven't played outside in well over a week. Our front yard is still an ice rink from last week. We're all so cranky, and I'm like superbitch right now. To top it off, the transmission is about to go out in my van, and we won't be getting a new one until next week, so I can't take them anywhere (at least I can borrow my mom's van for Xmas Eve/Xmas day). I'm turning into mommy dearest here! I usually enjoy spending some time with the kids, but the past few days I just want them out of my hair.

Bah humbug.

  • Well, I am kind of on a high because of all the holiday stuff right now, and I've not been working in the evenings all month, which has been awesome.  Plus, I don't spend all day at home like you.  But my husband has been gone most weekends for the past two months, and we were getting pretty cooped up, too.  Finally, once it got above 20 degrees, I just started bundling them up and taking them outside.  Sure, there are runny noses and it is a huge pain in the butt to get them all dressed and undressed, but it makes them so much happier and usually when they come in they are worn out enough to sit for 20 minutes and watch Mickey or something.

  • I wish it was cold here!  I always get a little bummed when our Christmas is in the 70's and humid, which it is right now. You can't do hot chocolate or piping hot stew in this weather.
  • Not down, per se, but a little bewildered. :-)

It's not usually this cold and snowy this early in the season. The real cold and heavy snow don't hit until mid-January. So having about 3 feet of snow and temps below 25 degrees for weeks already is a little irksome.

  • Oh yeah-superbitch here too. I live in WI and HATE the cold. I did send DD1 outside to play while DH was shoveling last night. I work part-time in the evenings so that is my break. I am really excited for xmas, but hate the chaos leading up to it. It is such a huge PITA to go anywhere now with the 2 kids, bundling them up and trying not to slip and fall on the icy sidewalks while carrying a 22lb baby!

  • This morning I was just thinking about how warm it's getting. It was 30 this morning. ;) Cold weather is just part of life around here. We've been so busy with the holidays coming up that I don't even pay attention to the weather. I only notice if we are supposed to get a snowstorm.
