Pregnant after a Loss

shopping for baby stuff?

I got a coupon in my inbox today for 30% off at the coach store.  This lead me to want a coach diaper bag from the outlet even more.  I posted it on my fb and got really good feedback about reasonably priced bags at the outlet.  So I'm going to go on Friday...

On Friday I will be 11 weeks.  Last time I didn't shop until 17 weeks and we lost her at 20.  This time I swore I wouldn't shop at all, but I want to...I want to be excited and happy and look forward to it.  I don't enjoy this distance I have put between myself and the baby.  At 13 weeks I will have my cervix stitched that makes me feel good and like it's ok to buy this, but it still makes me nervous. Sad

  • I got that coupon too and it makes me want to go buy a new purse. However, I have to travel 2 hours to get to the nearest outlet and it's full blown winter here, so not such a fun trip.

I actually do have the coach diaper bag, it's black with blue lining, and we got it on ebay for less than $200. However, I use it everyday as my laptop bag. I'm just going to get a separate diaper bag, preferably smaller so I don't overfill and it gets too heavy.

  • I think you should buy it!  Buying something is not going to jinx you, plus it would be gender neutral.  I read this really beautiful blog entry today and I hope she doesn't mind that I am cutting and pasting it here, but I think she describes a wonderful way at looking at these new pregnancies.

My husband and I have decided that we are going to enjoy this pregnancy.  One day at a time.  I never want to regret not being happy about this time in our lives.  Yes, it's scary as hell.  But, there is some really wonderful and joyful potential going on in there.  What if I do make it full term and have this child for this world?  Then I will look back on this pregnancy...and wonder how I could have enjoyed it more?  I don't want those regrets.  Take each and every day and enjoy it unless we are given reason to do otherwise!

I know this is harder to do than say.  I still have days where my heart drops and I wonder if this is really happening.

PS:  where did you get the coupon?? I might like a coach diaper bag if I could get a good price!

  • I know exactly how you feel!  I was scared to death to feel excited about this pregnancy.  I was scared for different reasons and at different points...scared I wouldn't get through the first tri, scared my transabdominal cerclage surgery wouldn't go well, then scared the anatomy scan wouldn't go well...finally I made it past the point of when we lost our first baby, at 18 wks.  We've bought a few outfits and have started cleaning out the spare room which will be the baby's room.  I'm taking small steps when I feel ready.

I think you should go for it and buy the diaper bag.  It's a great coupon and I know you'll be that much more excited when you have that bag!

What type of cerclage are you having done?  Best of luck with it!
