Our meeting on January 8th will actually be our first DT class! It will only take seven weeks, so we should be ready for our home study and background checks in late Feb. The social worker who will be doing those said she'll fingerprint us and get our forms on the same day she does a walk-through on the house.
Has anyone here gone through the DT class rather than the MAPP? Our social worker said it would be a lot more reading and homework on our part than a traditional MAPP class, but that was about it.
Re: Social worker called
My husband wasn't able to make the tuesday night MAPP classes, so I did the class and took home the deciding together books to him after each meeting.
I will be honest, he didn't read one book all the way through. I thought the class had enough homework...but woah boy, did the books have a lot of work!
I wish he could've gone to the classes with me because they are so much better than just reading the books!
That said, i'll wish you good luck with the DT books. I'm sure if you are diligent and set aside the time to read through each book at a time and do the work...it'll be worth it and will take you less time than trying to do a little bit each night.
