I don't know why I am just now thinking of this. Ugh. My ex-h has zero family. His mom is around but they barely speak. The rest of his family, his Dad, sister, aunt and Grandma have all passed away in the last two years. To say he has had it rough would be the understatement of the year. So now I'm sitting here thinking how when he and DD have Christmas together he will have nothing. He doesn't have a girlfriend or anything so the man literally will not have one gift to open. Should I run out and get him something from DD?
Re: Should I get my ex a gift from DD?
My exH's birthday was last friday in addition to Christmas.
For his birthday, L painted him a picture on cheapie canvas from Wal-Mart. For Christmas, I bought a picture frame with 2 4x6 spots in it. Traced his handprint in one, and put a picture in the other.
Cheap, but it shows I still care. Lucas loves doing things for his dad, too.
It would be a very nice gesture. Plus your daughter will be so excited to give her daddy an xmas present.
You don't have to but it would be very sweet if you helped your DD make him something. Even just some cookies or an ornament would be nice. And it is teaching DD a nice lesson about giving.
This. My Mom always took me shopping for my Dad's side of the family as a kid. She even let me buy a gift for the woman he left her for... When I look back on this now I realize that my Mom did a wonderful thing. Your LO will appreciate it later too even if right now they don't understand the magnitude of your gesture.
Absolutely!!!!
