So my 5 y.o. was begging for a DS for xmas. My sister gave him one last night and he was over the moon. I know nothing about the system. She got him a sports collection game b/c he loves sports. Well, the game is super freaking HARD to play. Every game has multi step instructions and I can't even do it on the novice level. He is so frustrated and upset, he just closed the game and walked off in tears. I am so upset b/c he was so excited about this present.
So are there any easy games I could get for him? Please help me!!!
Re: please help if your know anything about Nintendo DS!!!!!!
Yes there are. DD is also begging for one, and getting it for Christmas. She pretty much likes it to draw on, but there are a lot of age appropriate games for 5 year olds. I am not sure exactly what's out there for boys, since I haven't looked for them, but I know there are Dora, Wonder Pets, Backyardigans, Littlest Pet Shop, etc. I have also ssen some Sesame Street games.
I'm so not a video game player that even games for 4-5 year olds stump me.
Oh, poor little guy! I know nothing about the DS, but I just read a review of Legendary Starfy:
I just played it, addicted to it and totally blown away. It?s an EASYand fun adventure game for children, but personally I really loved it. It?s a 2D side scrolling adventure game, just like Mario Bros. It?s fun, easy (even 5 old girl can beat this game), have lots of Mini Games, can be played with your friend with the Wi Fi DS Multiplayer,? have nice sense of humor, and can reduce my stress after playing a bit (Hey, I?m a 22 old girl indeed with lots of problem and work, so playing this is give pleasure private retreat, it makes me laugh, relax and feels I can handle more works afterwards). Read My Full Legendary Starfy Review.
DD plays with my H's and she loves mario cart. It took her a while to figure it out.
Here are some on Amazon, I got DD the fred fish

Thanks ladies, DS has really never played video games much which is why he was so jazzed to get this gift.
Elise- Do you know which Mario Bros game your son has? There seem to be a bunch of different ones.
Sigh, I thought I was done my xmas shopping, but it looks like I will be heading out tonight to get some new games
Joey has a bunch of games but he primarily plays Mario Kart or Super Mario Bros when he does play.
He gets most frustrated with the Indiana Jones lego one (and I have to admit, I've tried to help him and I can't figure it out either).
I got him a Crayola one for his stocking (it's $14.99 at Target) and I think it's drawing and things like that.
He has Super Mario Brothers. There are bunch of MB, but I don't think they are all that different. I would sneak off with the DS when your son is asleep and try out the games. They are fun and you will be able to help him learn them.
