July 2011 Moms

to those with long torsos

I read an earlier post that mentioned being short waisted. Well, I am the opposite. I'm 5'9", but all torso. Any 2nd or 3rd time mommas with long torsos? How did you carry? Anyone else in the same boat? Just curious if it will take longer to show, be a low bump, etc.

I am actually down a few pounds in weight (which is fine, I could stand to lose a few), but I am feeling so flabby and bloated lately too! Dying for a bump only so I feel justified in my pants being tight by the end of the day!

  • I also have a long torso and am wondering if it's going to help me out at all or be any advantage?  I think it will be fun to see what happens.

  • me me! I've got a super long torso and short little legs. I read a similar post about short waisted gals complaining b/c they won't show as early. I figured that meant if you are long waisted you would show sooner.

Honestly I think its all up to each individual person and their body type. How your insides line up and how your body grows. I took my 7 week picture and we did our 9 week last night. I'm just really round in the gut and on my sides. I couldn't tell a difference until I saw the photos. I've really changed but i just look fat. no bump yet.

I figure maybe we'll just look like we are carrying lower? who knows. i just want a bump!

  • Long torso? Me! I am 5'10" (yeah.. tall..) and my torso is extremely long. Therefore, I have a feeling I am not going to show for quite some time. I am guessing I won't have a belly until at least after 20 weeks... which I am kind of sad about because I can't wait to get my baby belly! This is my first, so I have no idea how things will go.

  • I'm 5'8" with a long torso.  I am not that far along, only 9 weeks and I can't see anything yet.  The biggest change is that my normally smaller boobs are looking huge.  It will be interesting to see if we show earlier... I assume it will take a while for me since this is my first.
  • I'm 6'2 with a long torso.  I carried DD really low the entire pregnancy and my bump was an actual bump at 17 weeks.  Before that, it just looked like I had gained a little weight.

I currently look as pregnant as I did in my 17 week bump picture.

  • Since i'm a first timer, I can't respond to that part of your post, however I'm in the same boat as you.

I'm 5' 8.5" with a super long torso.  Long enough that I sometimes have trouble with regular shirts being long enough.  They often shrink up and are too short :(.  I'm also thin so I'm not sure how this combination will play out for me.

Right now I'm 10wk3d.  I feel thicker around the middle but I definitely don't have a bump yet.  I haven't taken any pictures yet so I have nothing to compare.

  • I am 5'8" with a long torso and short legs (wish it was reversed).  Even when I am fullterm I only look about 7 months pregnant (compared to most).  I do not get stretch marks and usually get back to my regular size pretty quickly.

  • I am 5'7 with a long torso and I carried high with my two DDs. I never got huge ( I thought I was at the time but looking back and compared to others I know I wasn't that big).

  • I'm 5'8" and have a long torso. I haven't really started showing yet, but by the end of the day, I definitely have a pooch that wasn't there at 9 am! I have a feeling I'm going to carry low. My waist has always been my smallest part and my upper abdomen hasn't changed at all.
  • Look at all these fellow long-torso women! I always feel so alone in my long-torso struggles (i.e. finding shirts that aren't exposing an inch of belly skin) :) I'm also over 5'8" with a long torso.

With my first I ended up showing by early second trimester and got really big at the end. I was pretty surprised about that, since I had assumed that they baby would take up space in my gigando torso. (Have you ever wondered what fills that space compared to short-waisted women?) I'm just beginning to show with this one, but I weigh less than I did last time.

Like a PP said, I think it just depends on the woman and might not have much to do with torso length.
