Anyone taken off bedrest with a shortened cervix?

Here's my short background:

On Friday I went in for my 32 week appointment and told my doctor about some cramping I had been having. She did an internal and found out that I had a shortened cervix (I was about a 2). I was placed on bedrest and given a steroid shot with my second one following 24 hours later.

Yesterday I went in for a check up and found out that my cervix length hadn't changed, but I was "a little dilated". Doctor didn't seem too concerned.

My plan is for me to be on bedrest until I hit 34 weeks and then my doctor said she would let me get up and just go whenever. Does anyone else have this plan? I'm glad I won't have to be on bedrest until I deliever, but it seems crazy to me that they would be ok with Baby coming anytime after 34 weeks.

Anyone have any experience with this? Or know anyone who was taken off bedrest with a shortened cervix but still delievered closer to term?

I haven't had your exact situation but I do have a shorted cervix (I am at 2.5 cm and only 18 weeks).  I know that your cervix length can get longer so maybe they are hoping for that while you are on rest for a couple of weeks.  Good luck!

That was the original plan for me (at 20 weeks I was at 1.8). Things have changed though and there is currently no plan, just day by day (.6 and 2 cm dilated). Since you've had the steroid shots your baby's lung development will be ahead of the curve and although you are already shortening there is no guarantee that you will deliver early. Sending you thoughts and prayers and hope you have a healthy LO!

I've been on bedrest since 20 weeks with a cervix of 2.5 cm.  It has held steady there, and my doctors have said that if there's no further change, they'll take me off bedrest around 34 weeks, although I'll still need to take it easy.

I was hospitalized at 26 weeks for 2 cm and contrations.   I was sent home after 8 days and put on at home bedrest.  My cervix did lengthen, but I stayed on the bedrest until my twins were born at 33 weeks (due to Pre-E)

It seems crazy to me that my doctors are ok with my going anytime after 34 weeks, but I trust they know what they are doing. They are also thrilled that I was able to get 2 steriod shots in.

Hopefully my next appointment will show no change and LO will be at least a January baby!

At 31 weeks 3 days I was admitted to the hospital for preterm labor and a shortened cervix of 0.5cm. If everything continues to stay calm while taking all the meds I am on, I will get to go home at 35 weeks and my doctors are fine with the baby coming any time after that. I am hoping to make it to 36 weeks, but have a feeling that as soon as I go home I will be headed back to L&D within a couple of days. I would trust your docs. They wouldn't say 34 weeks if they weren't comfortable with that.
