I posted a request for tablecloths from the 50s/60s. Oddly enough, they are to make an apron (!!!) for our preschool fundraiser.
I got a response from a lady who had a crocheted cloth. She said it needs repair, but I could have it.
I went to pick it up-- this thing is REALLY nice and HUGE. I took it to my knitting group last night, and they said that it shouldn't be hard to repair the 3 small holes. They were really impressed by the workmanship.
I am so glad that I could rescue it.
I also got rid of 4 pairs of jeans that DH has outgrown.

Re: Freecycle is cool.
It can be cool, but can be really annoying too. I had to deactivate my membership b/c of all of the emails. I probably should have just created an email for it alone. Lately, it's just been easier to donate to Salvation Army vs. do Freecycle.
That is awesome about the tablecloth. I've had good luck with getting free annuals from Freecycle people that needed to thin out their gardens.
You can choose your level of email updates. I don't get anything except general ones from the moderator once every month or two, and the responses to stuff I post. I usually get 4-5 responses to each item.

Love Freecycle! The chapter in my area is really active so I get an update about once a day with the list of emails submitted or I can log on to the sight and see them as they come in.
I cleaned out a bunch of outgrown toys and a few other items last week. I posted a list of 13 items and 12 were claimed and picked up within 24 hours.
