So DH and I were up ALL. NIGHT. LONG. with the stomach flu. Seriously, it was one of the most horrific 24 hours of my life. We are finally on the mend but obviously still contagious so we are not going to attend our neighborhood Christmas party tonight
We have a really close-knit neighborhood and we were really looking forward to getting together with everyone.
Anyway, since we can't go, our neighbors were encouraging us to send over our two older boys so they don't miss out on the visit from Santa and can still play at the party while also giving DH and I a break from the kids to recover. I originally agreed but at the last minute decided not to send them because I would feel absolutely horrible if the boys came down with the stomach bug in the next few days and we'd unknowingly exposed the entire neighborhood and all their kids to the nastiness that took over our house the last 24 hours.
Fortunately, we had not told the boys about the party so they do not know they are missing it. DH is out now with Eric to rent a few DVDs and try to make it a fun night for them. I really wish they could've gone though. They would've had SO much fun.
Would you have sent them or kept them home???
Re: WWYD? Did I make the right choice?
You take my ovaries, I take your yarns.
Yes, you definitely made the right choice! Hopefully, your boys won't get it, but stomach bugs are not something to mess with. We skipped a Christmas party last night because my middle DS threw up once the night before. I thought about going and bringing my other two while H stayed home with B, but we've had too many instances where a bug got us one after the other, with a day or two lag between victims.
Hope you feel better!
You did the right thing. Someone came to my Halloween party who was not finished with the stomach bug, we are not sure who, possibly more than one person. At least 10 people ended up with it 48 hours later, about 1/4th of the party. Probably another 15 or 20 two days after that. In the end, about 1/2 the people I know had it over the course of about 10 days.
It was weird / interesting to track the viral spread of the horridness on facebook.
dude- I am SO sorry!!!
I had food poisoning at 8 months pregnant that remdeded me almost incapacitated- Fortunately I was pregnant with #1- and had nobody to look after- It is one of my nightmares to go through that again, now that I have 2 kids and live nowhere near anyone I know, and my h is out of town all the time!!
so...I totally understand how horrible it must have been, and I am sorry!
I hope you feel better!
also, I think you're doing the right thing- it would be a terrible xmas present to give all of your neighbors and friends! you're thoughtful and kind, and I am sure that next year you will have tons of fun to make up for what you miss this year.
hope movie night is a hit!!
