We have a son named Will (William) and need a girl's name. I want to stick with something old-fashioned and feminine (and easy to spell/pronounce). Due to our last name, Ella is out. I really like Lillian, but my husband pointed out that we would have a Lilly and a Willy. I want something that can be shortened to a nickname. We've thought about:
Evelyn (nickname Evy)
Elizabeth (though, not sure what we'd use for a nickname)
Clarabelle (nickname Clara or Belle)
Eliana (nickname Anna)
Juliana (nickname Anna)
Another name that we could use Anna as the nickname???
Any thoughts or suggestions? Middle name will probably be Kay or Grace (or something with a single syllable).
Re: Girl's name that goes with Will?
I think you have a great list! I love Eliana, Juliana and Clara (but not Clarabelle)! Those were all on my list.
I also love Vivienne/Vivian, Gwyneth or Gwendolyn (nn Gwen), Eliza, Julia and Anna.

Those are all very pretty, I like Elizabeth Grace or Elisabeth Grace. There are alot of nicknames you can get out of Elizabeth..
Lizzy
Beth
Elli
Liza or Lisa
Elise
Elisa
What about just Anna? I do like Juliana as well.
Obviously I love the name Elizabeth (my DD's name) and there are so many great nicknames you can get from it. DD is Betsy, but we loved Libby as well. I'd say any Elizabeth nn would be a good fit with Will.
Analiese (annie)
Elizabeth (Liz, Beth, Liza, betty)
Margaret (Meg, Marge, Margie, Peg, Peggy)
Alicia (Ali)
Allison (Ali)
Great list! I like Clara (but not Clarabelle) and Eliana the best.
I like:
William and Caroline (Callie)
William and Abigail
William and Catherine/Katherine --oh, that might be too royal familyish
William and Elizabeth --I love the nn Libby
William and Amelia
William and Adeline or Adelaide

I think William and Elizabeth sounds positively dreamy!
I see why you are having trouble with choosing a nn: there are so many to choose from! Babette, Bess, Beth, Betsy, Bette, Betty, Elise, Elsa, Elsie, Libby, Liz, Liza. This is good, because you have a chance to see which one she most looks like, and go with that. Plus she can choose whichever she likes best when she is older.
