help for a sewing beginner

i'm attempting to make some chalkboard placemats for dh's cousins. unfortunately, i have a piece of sh!t singer machine so it's not really going too well. we were attempting to fix an issue with the bobbin and the shuttle (not sure if that's what it's actually called but it's the thing that bobbin snaps into on the front of the machine) fell out. i can't seem to get it back in. do any of you know where i can find a good resource on how to fix this issue? i've searched all over the internet and i guess since i don't even know what the part is really called, i haven't found anything as of yet. i've checked singer's website and they don't really provide much help.

 TIA

Re: help for a sewing beginner

  • I have a very bottom of the line singer too. There are two annoying things that I deal with constantly with my bobbin. 1) If you take out the bobbin case to change the bobbin, I almost always have to rotate the hand wheel a bit to get it back in. 2) It is super picky about what bobbin I use. I can only use the bobbin that came with the machine. I have yet to find store bought bobbins that will work, they are all either too big or too small.

I don't know if that helps, but good luck!
