Pregnant after a Loss

Sleeping in seperate rooms

DH and I have taken to taking turns sleeping in the guest room.  It's been this way for about a week now.  He says that I've started snoring and he feels so bad waking me up to get me to roll over because I've had such a hard time sleeping lately.  He also snores which makes sleeping difficult for me, I'm willing to wake him up to get him to roll over, but then he doesn't get any sleep either.  I feel awful about it and I *want* to sleep in the same bed with him, but as I become more uncomfortable it's more and more difficult.

Anyway, is anyone else sleeping in a different bed from SO/DH for similar reasons?

Re: Sleeping in seperate rooms

  • Not separate beds but DH has started wearing ear plugs at night. I'm pretty sure if we had a guest bed he'd be in it too, he keeps complaining about my tosing and turning. I don't have a lot of sympathy for him though.

Another tip... I also found hydrosence (saline nose spray) helps the pg congestion.

  • We have a couple times. Between being restless/uncomfortable, snoring, and 500 trips to the bathroom, I've been keeping DH up and then he's a total crabass the next day. Sometimes I just go to bed in the guest room and other times one of us gets up in the middle of the night and goes to the other room. I hate it, but we both need sleep :(

  • Not regularly, but it has happened a few times. DH had a really bad cold for about a week, and my tossing/turning kept him up (and his snoring kept me up), so I just went in the guest room until he felt better.

There have been a few other times where one or the other went in the other room because of the pregnancy toss-turn.

Generally though, we're in the same room. Scout gets really upset and just paces between the two rooms, and whimpers. So there is no perfect solution :)

  • YES!  We have a queen bed and there just isn't enough room for all the pillows I am needing to sleep.  I have been sleeping on the couch and the guest bed too.  DH didn't want to admit my pillows were making it hard for him to sleep, but he did the other day and so when I am having a difficult night I move to another room.  It is sad not to wake up together, but only a few more months for us!

  • Thanks ladies.  I feel a little better knowing that we aren't the only ones dealing with tough times sleeping.  I know it'll all be worth it when she gets here and we won't care about a few weeks of sleeping in seperate beds.

  • Ear plugs are HEAVEN... I don't leave home without them between DH snoring when drinking or loud hotels, ect.   You have to get the foam ones that mold into your ears.   I used to work nights and had to use them to sleep.  It took me a while to teach myself to fall asleep without them.  I heart earplugs.

  • I have slept on the pull out couch a couple of times because I wake up to go to the bathroom and then I can't go back to sleep and then I just keep DH up tossing and turning and he keeps me up snoring. I was up this morning at 4:30 and didn't get back to sleep until he got up at 7. Sad. I just keep reminding myself that soon baby will keep us so tired we'll just pass out. :O)
