A couple of months Before this pregnancy I had a UTI. I took the antibiotics felt fine and that was it. I never had a follow up appointment with my PCP as she retired soon after. So it was about 2 months later I started seeing my OB because I got my BFP. My Ob never gave me a pap because of all the spotting issues I had the beginning of this pregnancy (I'm actually having the pap on Weds at my Appt.) Anyway since about a week after finding out about this pregnancy I've had horrible back pain, usually at night. And on one occasion it was so bad DH carried me to bed because I could not walk, it's not every night but definately most nights. And stupid me did not mention it to my ob at previous appointments because I guess I get so anxious about everything else that it completely skips my mind!
Anyway now I'm sitting here reading about back pain and it discusses UTIs that go untreated and develop into kidney infections which cause back pain and are then dangerous for baby. Am I overreacting? I mean it's been over 10 weeks since the back pain started, should I go to urgent care now? Call my doc tomorrow? Or just wait for my Wednesday appointment? I'm totally freaking out about this. Do I just need to relax?
Eta: sorry no paragraps I'm on my phone and sorry for tmi but of course now I'm being a hypochondriac and thinking that my urine has perhaps been cloudy. *^Sigh*
Re: Can I be diagnosed too??
This.
I had a kidney stone around 10 weeks....I had a fever with it (though the ER doctor said it wasn't a fever because it was below 102 degrees. Whatever dude)...
Any UTI I've had has always been accompanied by a fever. If it would make you feel better, make an appointment with your doc and have it checked. But the ER doc I saw wasn't totally convinced it was a kidney stone and told me to just deal with it because pregnancy comes with back pain (he lacked any sort of bedside manner imaginable, he was awful)...
I've had tons of UTIs and Kidney stones, but never a fever that I noticed.
Where is the pain? Is it below your hip bones and centered, like in your tailbone? IF this is where it is, it could be sciatica. My OB swears that it's a later in pg thing, but it's started at 12 weeks for me in all 3 of my pregnancies, and DH has had to help me to bed, stand up, sit down etc. since 12 weeks. Not every time, but about 75% of the time.
I don't think urgent care is necessary, but I'd call and ask for an appt to check things out.
